Wrexham have already let a number of players go, and Phil Parkinson has admitted more will follow this summer.

Fresh off the back of their League One promotion, Wrexham released a total of eight players last week.

Steven Fletcher is departing the Red Dragons after two impressive seasons, admitting his exit is ‘not by choice’.

Long-time goalkeeper Mark Howard will leave Wrexham at the end of his contract as well.

Elsewhere, the likes of Jordan Davies and Sam Dalby are all set to become free agents on June 30.

But Phil Parkinson has now admitted that more players are going to be exiting the Racecourse Ground this summer.

Phil Parkinson says Wrexham players will leave

Wrexham will compete in the Championship for the 2025/26 season and will be allowed to register 25 players.

That is three more than League One, but unlike the third tier, goalkeepers are part of that 25-man squad, meaning there is really no difference.

Right now, the Dragons have 27 players aged 21 or above, meaning at least two will need to miss out.

There is also any potential new signings to consider, and as per Leader Live, Parkinson has now been discussing more players leaving the club.

When doing so, he suggested some may wish to depart in order to help their own careers.

He said: “It goes without saying that as the summer and pre-season progresses, there are players who will want a move themselves.

“A little bit similar to Sam Dalby and Jordan Davies’ situation last year.

“As much as the lads love being at Wrexham, there are players who haven’t figured as much this season who will be thinking ‘for my own career, I need to get playing again’.

“Sam is a great example of that, he did really well on loan at Dundee United.

“Obviously players are going to be leaving because we need to make space to bring in additions to make us competitive.”

Which players could leave Wrexham

The obvious options are Will Boyle and Luke Bolton, who barely got a sniff in any competition across 2024/25.

Elsewhere, Modou Faal and Sebastian Revan could benefit from loan moves as they are unlikely to see too much playing time in 2025/26 now the club have moved up another division.

There are more fringe stars, including George Evans and Jacob Mendy, whose game time was limited last term.

But if Wrexham have a big summer transfer window, it may be the case that even more players need to be moved on, either on loan or permanently.
