Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson gave his thoughts on the defeat to West Brom as he suggested a ‘simple’ reason why the Red Dragons lost.
Wrexham lost to West Brom in their first home game of the Championship season, making it two defeats in a row for the Red Dragons in the league.
It has been a difficult start to the season for Phil Parkinson’s side, who have struggled so far with the jump up to Championship football, although Wrexham have been pitted against two top teams so far in the form of Southampton and West Brom.
The Red Dragons showed plenty of promise in the final third, but unfortunately, defensive errors cost Wrexham against the Baggies, and that has been targeted by Parkinson, who was far from happy with his side’s result.

What Phil Parkinson said following Wrexham’s defeat against West Brom
Wrexham matched West Brom on the attacking side regarding chances created, with Phil Parkinson’s team showing intent when going forward. However, West Brom edged ahead by being more clinical when needed.
This also came down to the difference in defence, with Wrexham’s back line struggling against the threat of Ryan Mason’s side’s forward line.
Isaac Price, West Brom’s young prodigy in attacking midfield, caused particular problems for Parkinson, and his Wrexham side simply could not contain him.
Via the BBC, Parkinson reflected on the differences between Wrexham and West Brom, to which he said: “I think between both boxes we were decent, we showed good control in our play with and without the ball.
“But the game was won and lost in both boxes. The goals we conceded today were too soft, it’s as simple as that.
“We’ve just handed them goals today by not dealing with the situation. Football never changes, it’s about what happens in and around the boxes.”

Phil Parkinson must notch first Championship win next weekend
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson will be keen for his side to get their difficult start to the Championship season behind them, and they will have a glorious opportunity to do so next weekend as they host Sheffield Wednesday at the Racecourse Ground.
The Red Dragons’ opening two Championship games have thrown up challenges, with Wrexham being the underdogs, but they will be expected to topple the Owls after the issues they have faced this summer.
Sheffield Wednesday have also lost their opening two Championship games, and will travel to the Racecourse Ground with a youthful side with very little experience after several players left this summer, including Josh Windass, of course.
Wrexham can get back on track with a win against Sheffield Wednesday, but if they cannot overcome a struggling Owls side, questions may start to be asked of Parkinson.
