The only thing that comes close to watching Wrexham live and in the flesh is watching the action behind the scenes in Welcome to Wrexham, and there’s more where that came from.

Ever since Wrexham were taken over by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club has enjoyed a massive swell in popularity and exposure.

A lot of that is due to the famous Wrexham owners pushing the brand across the world, with one of their key weapons in that pursuit being the Welcome to Wrexham docuseries.

Season 4 has already delivered some big storylines, and ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, we now know that there will be a Season 5 to shine a spotlight on Wrexham’s foray into the Championship.

Welcome to Wrexham will follow Championship campaign

As Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 continues to grace the small screen, news broke on Wednesday that the show would be renewed for a fifth season, with the focus obviously being on Wrexham playing in the Championship.

Reacting to the news, Wrexham fans were naturally delighted that their club will get more exposure next season, but they all clearly want to see one thing happen in Season 5: Another promotion.

One fan wrote, “Showing that promotion to the Premier League with a Wembley final gonna hit hard,” while another added, “Promotion to the Premier League CONFIRMED!”

Wrexham fan Craig Jones predicts we’ll see Wrexham achieve the “Back to Back to Back to Back to Back” during the show’s run, while another said, “Made history once, do it again!!”

They don’t ask for much, these Wrexham fans, do they? Others shared their love for the show and the Wrexham journey, with one fan writing: “Keep renewing… we’ll keep watching. It’s really the most insane sports story of all time to go from a step up from Beer League to a promotion away from the EPL.”

Elsewhere, though, some fans and rivals bemoaned the fact that the show is getting predictable, with results during the season already ‘spoiling’ the series.

One said, “Please release it earlier this time… there is no reason to watch Season 4 now given we all know the story.”

A Swansea fan also predictably questioned whether we even need Welcome to Wrexham, writing: “Anyone other than Wrexham fans watching this? Bizarre but great for the club.”

Will Wrexham fans get their wish?

So, will Wrexham actually get promotion in 2025/26? We offered up an early prediction for Wrexham’s Championship campaign, and suggested they are more likely to land around midtable, as long as the recruitment is right this summer.

The most important thing for Wrexham right now is establishing themselves in the second tier; anything more than that is a bonus given this is Wrexham’s first stint in the second tier for 43 years.

Phil Parkinson’s Championship record is a little concerning, but we already know the club is going to spend big and freshen up the Wrexham squad in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Ryan Reynolds thinks Wrexham can make it to the Premier League in the next decade. We’d find it hard to bet against that, and wouldn’t be surprised to see them there a lot quicker than that even.
