Wrexham loanee Sam Dalby is one absolute fire in the Scottish Premiership for Dundee United.

Sam Dalby is currently the league’s top goalscorer, two goals ahead of the rest, thanks to another Dalby strike against St Johnstone.

Dalby is in the form of his life away from Wrexham but is supposed to be returning in January when his loan expires. Dalby wants to stay at Dundee, so his Red Dragons future is uncertain.

It’s no surprise he wants to stay put in Scotland given how he’s hailed.

What Dundee United fans chant for Sam Dalby

Dundee fans have developed a chant for Dalby, which goes as follows: ‘Sam Dalby, the best in Scotland, he only scores for me and you!’

An X user also picked up the chant in action after Dalby’s winner on Boxing Day. ‘The best in Scotland’, is a hell of a compliment, but given his current goalscoring form, you can’t help but say it isn’t ringing true.

Never fall in love with a loan player, as they say. Well, it appears Dundee fans have done just that.

Dundee fans desperate to keep Dalby

With his Wrexham return looming, Dundee supporters are absolutely sweating on social media as to whether Dalby’s deal will be made a permanent one.

One writes: ‘Sam Dalby for us is what Bojan Miovski was for Jim Goodwin’s Aberdeen side. Such a brilliant all-round striker. Has to be a priority in January getting him signed on a pre-contract.’

One is also confident he’ll make the move permanent after speaking to Red Dragons supporters.

Another adds: ‘Unless something bad happens I think Sam Dalby will sign for Dundee United permanently He’s happy up here he’s happy that the manager has expressed his eagerness to keep him and 9 goals his best return for a while.’

Whether this comes to fruition is another story. All will be revealed shortly. But there’s one inevitability in Scotland – Dalby won’t stop scoring!
