What sources close to Phil Parkinson are saying about new five-year Wrexham contract

There have been rumours that Phil Parkinson has signed or been offered a new five-year contract with Wrexham.

Phil Parkinson became Wrexham manager in 2021 after Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac sanctioned the sacking of Dean Keates.

West Brom wanted Parkinson at the time, but the Dragons were able to flex their ‘financial clout’ to land him instead, Humphrey Ker has previously explained.

Since arriving in Wales, the former Sunderland boss has known nothing but success, winning three promotions in a row.

But in 2025/26, there are a lot of rumours and speculation surrounding Parkinson and his future.

Has Phil Parkinson signed a new Wrexham contract

This week, Shaun Harvey has said Parkinson still has Wrexham’s support amid question marks over his future.

Now, an insight into the suggestions he has or could sign a new contract with the Dragons has been provided.

Rumours emerged about a potential five-year deal for Parkinson this month.

However, Nathan Salt has now shared an update on that during the Rob Ryan Red podcast.

He said: “I would say that from conversations I’ve had with sources close to the manager, there is nothing to report right now.

“Nothing in this idea that he’s been given some sort of five-year extension, new five-year contract, and nothing to suggest that there has been any threat to his job.”

When does Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham contract expire

Parkinson is in a pretty unusual situation when it comes to his Wrexham contract.

Unlike most managers in the top tiers of English football, he has not been given a fixed-term deal.

Instead, as Harvey explained last year, Parkinson is on a rolling contract with Wrexham.

Harvey said: “Phil’s contracted approach hasn’t changed since the day he arrived.

“We made a commitment to Phil to get him to come to the club and that commitment still remains in place today. He’s on a rolling contract and that continues until either party decides it is not going to.

“And for anybody who has got any concerns about it, we can only point towards the success we have had so far.”
