Wrexham need everybody fit and firing in the final weeks of the League One season, but one player is set to miss the run-in.

Wrexham’s League One campaign continues on Friday afternoon as Bristol Rovers visit the STōK Cae Ras.

Phil Parkinson is seeking a win against the relegation-threatened Pirates after Wrexham drew 0-0 with Wigan Athletic last weekend.

Wycombe Wanderers have cut the gap to just one point with the final four games of the season now upon us.

Wrexham really need a strong Easter period, starting against Bristol Rovers and ending with a trip to Blackpool on Monday.

Modou Faal shares injury update

Wrexham will be heavy favourites to win on Friday afternoon, especially with Inigo Calderon criticising his Bristol Rovers side as a ‘League Two’ team.

Parkinson has, though, received an injury blow ahead of Friday’s game.

Striker Modou Faal has picked up a thigh injury in training this week and his season may be over.

Parkinson noted that it’s ‘quite a bad injury’ for Faal, and with just four games to go, a return in the coming weeks seems unlikely.

Faal has now taken to Instagram to share an update, posting a photo from a hospital bed whilst confirming he has undergone ’successful surgery’.

The Gambian striker is now looking forward to getting back fit and making an impact for Wrexham own the line.

‘Successful surgery Alhamdulillah,’ said Faal.

‘Road to recovery now wesh,’ he added.

Modou Faal faces big pre-season at Wrexham

Faal signed for Wrexham on deadline day last summer, completing a move from Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

The giant striker is certainly raw, but Wrexham fans have seen improvement in Faal over the course of the season.

Faal will end the season without a league start to his name, and it’s clear that Wrexham still view him as one for the future.

This summer gives Faal a first full pre-season as a Wrexham player, and this surgery will hopefully ensure that he is ready to go from day one.

Faal will hope to really push for first-team minutes, no matter what division Wrexham are in next season, but a loan move could be on the horizon too.

Faal needs minutes and if they aren’t going to come at Wrexham – with Parkinson preferring his tried and tested strikers – then a loan move to League One could be great for his development moving forward.
