Wrexham have struggled to find a striker who can score goals consistently in the 2024/25 season.
The Red Dragons are currently battling it out for an automatic promotion place at the top end of League One.
Wrexham can end the weekend in second place, but only if they beat Rotherham United and Wycombe Wanderers lose their clash.
Despite some dips in form and recent struggles at the Racecourse Ground, it has been a great season for the Welsh side.
However, it probably would have been a bit easier, and they may even already have been in second place right now if they had a consistent goal scorer all season.
Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin have scored just three goals each in League One across the current campaign.
The pair have previously been immense for Wrexham and so key to their promotion from the National League and League Two.
Phil Parkinson has been snubbing Palmer and Mullin in 2025, though their replacements aren’t scoring that many either.

Wrexham player offered nothing to Phil Parkinson in 2023
Steven Fletcher continues to excel off the bench, but his age means he can’t start many games or complete 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, Jay Rodriguez is still waiting for his first Wrexham goal, and Sam Smith has netted once since his transfer on January 31st. Jack Marriott hasn’t found the back of the net in the league since his return from injury either.
But one man who really isn’t having a hard time bagging goals this term is Sam Dalby, who was sent out on loan to Dundee United over the summer.
Dalby has improved a great deal since his loan move, as illustrated by what Parkinson had to say about him in 2023.
Season 3, Episode 1 of ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ covered the Red Dragons’ first game in League Two, which they lost 5-3 to MK Dons.
During that tie, which the Dundee United loanee started up front alongside Billy Waters, Parkinson stated that Dalby and Waters offered ‘absolutely nothing’.
He said: “For me, the front two have given us absolutely nothing. I think we need to go two for two, haven’t we? Ollie [Palmer], Bickers [Jake Bickerstaff] make sure you’re ready.”

Sam Dalby stats compared to Wrexham strikers
Dalby ended up scoring five goals in 40 appearances across all competitions for Wrexham in 2023/24.
He was then loaned out in the summer, given the heavy competition for places in the club’s centre-forward ranks.
Less than a year later, however, he’s now scored more league goals than every single one of Wrexham’s current number nines.
| Player | League goals 24/25 |
| Sam Dalby | 13 |
| Paul Mullin | 3 |
| Ollie Palmer | 3 |
| Sam Smith | 12 (1 for Wrexham) |
| Steven Fletcher | 7 |
| Jack Marriott | 5 |
| Jay Rodriguez | 2 (0 for Wrexham) |
Dalby is out of contract at the Racecourse at the end of June 2025 and is still yet to make a decision on his future after being offered a new deal late last year.
