Losing Paul Mullin’s personality and goals was going to prove hard for Wrexham this summer, but Phil Parkinson seems to have replaced him rather quickly.
Paul Mullin is no longer at Wrexham. The striker is on loan at Wigan Athletic having fallen out of favour at the Racecourse under Phil Parkinson in the second half of last season.
The striker scored more than 100 goals in Wrexham colours and so replacing his output was going to be a real task for Parkinson, especially given the fact that Wrexham were stepping up to the Championship.
So far this summer, Wrexham have signed 10 new players and a good handful of those are attacking players including the likes of Josh Windass, Nathan Broadhead, and Kieffer Moore.
And of the three, Moore is the one who is scoring the goals right now.

Kieffer Moore on target as Wrexham beat Preston North End
On Tuesday night, Wrexham beat Preston North End 3-2 in the Carabao Cup second round. It was another hard-fought game for the Dragons, but this time, instead of losing from a winning position, they actually won from a losing position.
Ryan Hardie scored his first goal for the club in the first half of the game, with Harry Ashfield and Moore scoring in the second half. Moore came off the bench to score an injury time winner after the big Welshman scored twice in Wrexham’s 2-2 draw against Sheffield Wednesday last time out.
So far this season, Moore has three goals in four games for Wrexham, which is actually more than what Mullin had in his first four games for the club.

Kieffer Moore’s Wrexham start compared to Paul Mullin’s
Wrexham signed Mullin from Cambridge United ahead of the 2021-22 season, and in his first four games of the campaign, Mullin scored twice. Of course, that season, Mullin went on to score 32 goals in all competitions, with an incredible 105 goals in 165 total appearances for the club.
Moore, then, certainly has a long way to go if he is to come anywhere near the level that Mullin was for Wrexham. But it’s a strong start for Moore, who endured a difficult last season with Sheffield United, scoring six goals in 30 games.
| Kieffer Moore’s career by stats | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Cardiff City | 66 | 25 | 6 |
| Yeovil Town | 58 | 9 | 1 |
| Barnsley | 55 | 23 | 8 |
| Bournemouth | 46 | 10 | – |
| Wigan Athletic | 36 | 10 | 5 |
| Forest Green | 34 | 7 | 3 |
| Sheff Utd | 30 | 6 | – |
| Ipswich Town | 29 | 7 | 1 |
| Rotherham United | 25 | 13 | 3 |
But this strong start to life at Wrexham will surely give him a confidence boost, and it gives Parkinson a reliable and trusted source of goals during what’s been a rather sticky patch of form to open up the Championship campaign.
Wrexham return to Championship action against Millwall on Saturday.
