Wrexham are expected to complete a deal that could usher in a big change for the 2025/26 season.
The Red Dragons have had a very active summer transfer window so far, adding seven new players to their squad.
But despite breaking their transfer record several times already, more incomings are expected at the Racecourse Ground before the window slams shut.
It has been reported that Wrexham will pay £7.5m to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town this summer.
As we suggested last month, Phil Parkinson could change formation with Broadhead in the team as while he can play up front, he is a natural winger.
This week, meanwhile, it has been claimed that Wrexham are leading the race for Lewis Koumas of Liverpool who, like the Ipswich man, can operate as a centre-forward but has plenty of experience on either flank.

Wrexham fans suggest Phil Parkinson formation change
The potential arrival of Koumas has now led to many Wrexham fans suggesting there will be a formation change by Parkinson this season.
Whether that means a switch to a back-four or something like a 3-4-3 is up for debate, but the potential arrival of two wingers this month has supporters speculating.
One fan wrote: “This is all getting a bit much for me to fathom! If Liverpool are going to send a huge prospect like Lewis Koumas to us on loan, it’s because they expect him to play… a lot. I’m going to say it. I really think we’re going to be saying goodbye to 3-5-2 and Parkyball.”
A second agreed: “Agreed, especially if we are getting Broadhead too. I’m guessing one of them turns into a RW while the other stays a LW?”
“I’ve been saying for a few weeks now it’s gonna be 3-4-2-1 or 5-2-2-1, depending on attacking or defending,” tweeted a third.
A fourth Wrexham fan added: “It has to be. I’ve said it all summer due to the number of attackers we’re bringing in. Has to be 3 up top.”
Another stated: “My thoughts exactly You don’t send a prospect out on loan as a bench warmer.”

Wrexham must be wary of change
If, and it’s a big if, Parkinson opts to start playing wingers and moves to a back-four, it could impact Wrexham’s defensive record.
One of the main reasons for their success in the last three years, especially in League One, was their ability to concede so few goals.
Losing a defender to play wingers could decrease their defensive prowess, though that shouldn’t be a huge issue if he sticks with a back-five and just drops a striker instead.
However, that would create another potential problem with Ryan Hardie, Kiefer Moore, Sam Smith, Jack Marriott, Jay Rodriguez, Ollie Palmer and Modou Faal fighting for one place.
Marriott, Faal and Palmer could be moved on this summer, but that would still leave four strikers battling for one spot.
