Wrexham continue to chase Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead but may need to have alternative targets in mind.

Kieffer Moore became Wrexham’s latest attacking signing on Tuesday, completing a £2million move from Sheffield United.

Phil Parkinson isn’t done just yet, though, with another attacking signing on his radar.

Wrexham are pushing to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town, potentially paying a club-record £7.5million for the Welsh international.

Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna doesn’t want to lose Broadhead, and that means Wrexham’s pursuit hasn’t moved quite as quickly as first hoped.

Wrexham would be wise to have alternative targets in mind, with one interesting name linked in recent days.

Wrexham lead race for Liverpool’s Lewis Koumas

Reports over the weekend suggested that Wrexham are in the race to sign Lewis Koumas on loan from Liverpool.

A host of Championship rivals were also named as suitors for Koumas, including Birmingham City.

TEAMtalk now claim that Wrexham are leading the race to sign Koumas and are ‘making the biggest play’ to secure his signature.

Liverpool don’t want to sell Koumas, but are open to another loan spell away from Anfield after spending last season at Stoke City.

Wrexham are thought to be the ‘favoured destination’ for Koumas, who is the son of former West Bromwich Albion and Wales midfielder Jason Koumas.

The 19-year-old bagged three goals and two assists in 43 Championship appearances for Stoke last season, playing in a host of positions across the front line.

That versatility is very similar to what Broadhead offers, with Wrexham potentially eyeing up the teenager as an alternative to the Ipswich star.

Jurgen Klopp’s verdict on Lewis Koumas

Koumas is very highly rated at Liverpool, and another Championship loan move could seriously aid his development.

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was certainly a big fan of Koumas, having handed him opportunities in the senior side back in 2024.

As quoted by liverpool.com, Klopp hailed Koumas as a ‘fantastic finisher’ in front of goal after he scored in an FA Cup win over Southampton.

Further first-team chances look tricky this season, and Liverpool are ready to loan Koumas out again.

Wrexham don’t often explore the loan market, with Arthur Okonkwo and Luke McNicholas the only loan additions in the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds era.

Phil Parkinson is open to more loan signings this summer, and Koumas could fit the bill for Wrexham as another attacking threat.
