Wrexham face a huge clash against league leaders Birmingham City as they look to close the gap at the top of the table to just two points.

Phil Parkinson’s men welcome the League One pace-setters to the Racecourse Ground in what could prove to be a decisive match in the context of Wrexham’s season.

A below-par performance against local rivals Shrewsbury has meant that changes will have to be made for the Birmingham clash and Parkinson has hinted Jack Marriott may be back involved in the starting line up.

Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are expected to be in attendance for the game amid official confirmation from the club that Kaleen Allyn has joined the board as Executive Director.

Wrexham fans hoping for transfer movement following Allyn appointment

With the club officially announcing Allyn’s new role to the board following EFL approval, Wrexham fans have been taking to X to share their hope that the new Executive Director’s appointment should now spark some movement in the transfer window.

The Red Dragons are in search of a striker and Wrexham are looking to move for Michael Smith in order to add some much-needed firepower to a struggling forward line.

Fans believe Allyn’s appointment can now make this and other moves accelerate, one fan wrote on X: “Can feel there will be some movement on the transfer front now.”

Another fan wrote: “Time to announce some signings now then please.” Mirroring the view of many frustrated Wrexham fans with the lack of activity thus far in the window.

One fan cheekily asked the question as to whether Allyn herself can play for the side, they wrote: “Can she score 20 goals from now until the end of the season?”

Allyn’s investment doesn’t change the stance of Reynolds and McElhenney

With the Allyn family investing a minority stake in Wrexham and Kaleen’s appointment to the board, many associated with the club have questioned recently what this means for the involvement of the current owners Reynolds and McElhenney.

Reynolds stated they will remain majority owners back in December and the mood around the club is that the investment from the family should be seen as a positive from the club’s perspective.

Phil Parkinson has also been impressed with the Allyn family and will now be hoping to have some funds available to improve his current squad.

Should Allyn’s influence get a striker or two over the line before the end of January, she will have begun her tenure in the best possible way in the eyes of many Wrexham followers.
