Wrexham fans react to Phil Parkinson’s Paul Mullin decision vs Stockport County, demand issued

Wrexham fans had a lot to say about Paul Mullin when their team met Stockport County in a League One fixture on Saturday afternoon.

After a 1-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers last week, Phil Parkinson’s players should have been full of confidence going into what was set to prove another tough game.

Wrexham and Stockport County’s rivalry began to heat up in 2022 when the latter won promotion from the National League, while the Red Dragons lost in the play-offs.

The pair once again clashed last season, and it was the Hatters who went up as champions, while the Welsh outfit secured the second automatic promotion place.

2024/25 is a slightly different story, however, with Wrexham ahead of their old foes by six points going into the clash on March 22nd.

Wrexham fans react as Paul Mullin left out vs Stockport County

Ahead of the game, the team news was released at 2pm UK time and it was a very predictable eleven.

Meanwhile, there was once again no room in the side or the bench for Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer, who have now missed 10 league games in a row.

In turn, upon Mullin being excluded yet again, Wrexham fans have taken to social media to make their feelings known.

One fan wrote: “Every week I’m steaming – I just want to get promoted with Mullin.”

While a second added: “I hope I’m wrong, but I think a draw is the best we can do with this lineup. What would the crowd noise be if Mullin, Palmer and Lee started together? The twelfth man would be good for 3 points today.”

Another questioned: “Yet again NO Mullin and Palmer – what’s going on?”

A fourth Red Dragons fan demanded: “Come on now get Mullin on the bench.”

“I think it would have really thrown Stockport if Smith, Palmer and Mullin started together!” a fifth claimed.

And a sixth stated: “We want Mullin!! Mullin, Mullin, Mullin, Mullin!!!!”

What Phil Parkinson has said about Paul Mullin and Ollier Palmer

Mullin missing matchday squads has become quite common and it remains to be seen if he will ever play for Wrexham again.

Parkinson commented on Mullin and Palmer earlier this week, suggesting the pair need to be ready if called upon.

“The lads out of the team like Mulls and Ollie, who have both made significant contributions for us, they’re right with the group training hard every day and waiting for the moment because you never know when that moment is going to come, and you’ve got to be prepared for it as Lewis Brunt was at the weekend.”

But with so few games of 2024/25 left to play and yet another snub on Saturday, it seems clear Parkinson now prefers Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher as his back-ups to Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith.
