Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have some big decisions to make when it comes to offering Wrexham players new contracts this year.
Likely to the delight of fans, home-grown talent Harry Ashfield signed a new Wrexham contract this week, keeping him at the club until 2027.
The teenager has excelled in the EFL Trophy this term and clearly has a very bright future in the game, which will now be at the Racecourse Ground for at least another two years.
Aside from Ashfield, Ryan Barrnet earned a new deal earlier this season after he had received transfer interest from the Championship.
Elsewhere, Ollie Palmer and Jack Marriott, both of whom were out of contract this summer, signed one-year extensions,
Palmer’s contract extension may have been a mistake as he has fallen heavily out of favour this year, failing to make a single matchday squad since late January in the league.
But there’s another Wrexham man who Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds should be looking to tie down before June, even if it might not be the wisest decision.

Steven Fletcher has done enough to earn Wrexham contract offer
The man in question is Steven Fletcher, who has been one of the club’s most important players this season.
The former Sunderland man is already 37 and will turn 38 on March 26th meaning, on paper, it’s probably time for him to be hanging up his boots.
Age is already catching up with the Scotsman, who is unable to complete 90 minutes to the best of his ability anymore and is instead primarily used off the bench.
Despite this, a strong case could be made that he’s still been Wrexham’s best centre-forward in 2024/25.
Ollie Rathbone called Fletcher ‘immense’ earlier this month and spoke about how loved the striker is.
Meanwhile, after scoring the winning goal against Huddersfield Town on March 4th, Fletcher was leading the EFL for most goals netted as a substitute in 2024/25.
It’s not just his goals that have been crucial this term, however, with Sam Smith praising the Wrexham striker for the role he played in his winning goal against promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers last weekend.

Will Steven Fletcher want to sign a Wrexham contract
On paper, giving a player who is soon to be 38 and can’t really start matches anymore a new contract doesn’t make much sense.
But Fletcher has been such a key player for the Red Dragons in 2024/25, the club should at least offer him a deal.
However, whether or not the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man is willing to extend his career remains to be seen.
After joining Wrexham, Fletcher revealed he was considering retirement on the back of his Dundee United exit.
“When I left Dundee United, I’m not going to lie in the back of my mind I was thinking is that me done? I was half thinking do I just now concentrate on my family being a dad and a husband on a day-to-day basis.”
Two years on, it remains to be seen what his plans are beyond 2025 when his Wrexham deal runs out.
