Despite having already signed two new strikers in Ryan Hardie and Josh Windass this summer, it looks like Wrexham are about to break their transfer record for another one.
Wrexham are really going for it in the transfer market ahead of the new season starting in less than two weeks’ time.
For Phil Parkinson, the summer was a fairly subdued one at first, but it has since burst into life with the recent signings of Liberato Cacace, Josh Windass, George Thomason, and Lewis O’Brien, who is now the club’s record transfer at £5m.
But on Tuesday evening it was reported that Wrexham could smash their transfer record to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town in a £7m deal.

What’s being said about Nathan Broadhead to Wrexham?
The initial reports revealed that Wrexham are plotting a £7.5m deal to sign Broadhead from Championship rivals Ipswich Town this summer. The Welshman scored twice in 18 Premier League games last season, with two goals in 14 caps for Wales.
Commenting soon after the news broke, journalist Nathan Salt reported that Wrexham are indeed closing in on a move for Broadhead and that there are ‘significant wages as part of the package’.
Bangor-born Broadhead looks set to become signing number seven at the Racecourse this summer.

Wrexham fans react as club closes in on Nathan Broadhead
Needless to say, Wrexham fans are getting excited about the chances of Broadhead signing, and about the sheer amount of money being spent by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac at Wrexham this summer.
One Wrexham fan posted online: “That would be a great signing”, as another added, “Parky is cooking”. Meanwhile, one comment from a Wrexham supporter read: “A very good technical player and £7m isn’t a bad price at all.”
| Season | Division | Games | Goals | Assists |
| 2024/25 | Premier League | 18 | 2 | 0 |
| 2023/24 | Championship | 38 | 13 | 3 |
| 2022/23 | League One | 19 | 8 | 5 |
Another fan weighed in with: “Huge statement signing.” A lengthier comment read: “We’ve come a long way from some of the signings we had to make in 2021. The fact we’ve got money to spend on strikers like that is mental. Roll on, Southampton away.”
And a similar comment from a Wrexham fan was: “Did I think we could sign a player of his quality this season from the likes of Ipswich? Not a chance. This will smash our transfer record into pieces.”
Wrexham are set to play Dutch side FC Groningen in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, before opening their championship campaign away at Southampton the following week.
