Wrexham’s squad is expected to look very different once the 2025/26 season finally gets underway.
Wrexham have plenty of transfer targets ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window reopening next week.
But in order to make room for any potential new additions, more players are going to have to be let go.
Wrexham’s retained list was announced in May, with eight stars leaving the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.
Away from those players, however, the Red Dragons will still need to move on a few more names because of the Championship squad rules, and two potential candidates for an exit have been named.

Wrexham told to move on two players this summer
Unlike League One, goalkeepers count toward the squad registration in the Championship.
In a further headache, Modou Faal and Sebastian Revan have turned 21 and therefore must now be registered.
Now, journalists Nathan Salt and Rich Fay have been discussing which players Wrexham should move on in order to make room in their squad during the latest Rob Ryan Red podcast.
Fay asked: “Any other players that you do just see as that’s it, they’re just not gonna be playing in the Championship, they’re going, who are under contract, guaranteed departures this summer?”
Salt went on to name Will Boyle and Luke Bolton, saying: “Got to move on Will Boyle, lovely head of hair, but it’s time to go, I think for him, just because he needs to play.
“Luke Bolton, I think you’ve, again, got to go. I still believe firmly that Faal probably needs to go out on loan.”
What Phil Parkinson has said about Luke Bolton and Will Boyle
Parkinson praised Bolton when he first arrived at the club back in early 2024, labeling the defender as ‘dynamic’.
He said: “Luke Bolton was someone we had been looking at for a while, he’s dynamic, he’s got pace, and he wants to get around the back of defenders. I think our supporters will enjoy watching him play.”
Meanwhile, Parkinson called Boyle ‘outstanding’ last year, but both players fell heavily out of favour in the most recent campaign.
In part due to injury issues, Bolton only played 169 minutes across 2024/25, none of which was in the league.
Boyle was in a similar situation, notching 270 minutes of action across just three appearances in cup competitions.
