Wrexham loanee Sam Dalby has now earned himself a prestigious accolade as contract decision nears

The future of Wrexham player Sam Dalby will be decided in the coming months but in the mean time, he’s been in top form.

The arrival of Modou Faal at Wrexham toward the end of the 2024 summer transfer window allowed Sam Dalby to be moved out on loan.

The 25-year-old had been a bit-part player during the 2023/24 promotion-winning season and was seemingly deemed surplus to requirements at the Racecourse Ground.

However, after making the move up to Scotland, Dalby has excelled with Dundee United.

Most recently, the centre-forward provided an assist as his current team beat St Johnstone 1-0 to move fourth in the Scottish Premier League table.

Wrexham loanee Sam Dalby named in PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year

Dalby has broken his Wrexham record for goals already, despite playing a lot fewer games.

He has 13 goals and 12 assists in 88 matches for the Red Dragons, but has already found the back of the net an impressive 14 times since linking up with Dundee United.

Dalby is the third top goalscorer in the entire SPL, and his superb form across 2024/25 has now earned him a prestigious accolade.

The PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year, which is voted on by fellow players, was announced this past Saturday.

As expected, Celtic dominated the eleven, but Dalby was one of just two stars to make the cut who are not on the books of the Hoops or Rangers.

Sam Dalby Wrexham contract

After such an excellent stint in Scotland, Wrexham fans may wish to see the striker return to their club in 2025/26 and be given a chance to prove himself.

However, though Dalby was offered a contract by the Red Dragons in late 2024, he is yet to agree to fresh terms.

As a result, it means he is currently set to become a free agent when his deal expires on June 30th, 2025.

There is, of course, still a chance the Englishman could accept Wrexham’s offer but it’s hard to see him doing so.

Dalby was a bit-part player under Parkinson and after proving he can lead the line on a regular basis, will probably want to join a side that can offer him consistent starts, something the Welsh outfit are unlikely to be able to do.
