Wrexham loaned Sam Dalby to Dundee United during the 2024 summer transfer window and he’s since excelled.
After breaking their transfer record for Modou Faal, it appeared the Red Dragons had one too many centre-forwards.
This saw Wrexham loan Sam Dalby out to Dundee United in August, and what a move it has been for the player.
Back in November, Dalby was named SPL Player of the Month, and his fine form has continued across the entire season.
While a number of Wrexham’s number nines continue to struggle on the goal front, the 25-year-old has already hit double figures for the season and was once again in good form over the weekend.

Dundee United fans praise Wrexham loanee Sam Dalby
Dundee United were in action on Sunday, facing off with Aberdeen in a crucial clash.
The match ended 2-2 – a result that did neither side any favours in the tight battle inside the top four – but Dalby once again scored.
After netting his 13th league goal of the season, the Wrexham loanee has received much praise online from Dundee United supporters.
One fan wrote: “What a lovely well worked corner. Wonderful cross from Trap and a lovely header from Sam Dalby! Sam Dalby has been unplayable. Having width, balls up to him and into him and this is what happens. Need to keep this formation going forward! 2-0 at half time! Get in!”
Another claimed: “Sam Dalby the best in Scotland!!!!!”
A third added: “Sam Dalby having a fine game so far. Physical presence, hold up play and around being a nuisance for the Aberdeen defence.”
“Sam Dalby you glorious ——-,” a fourth fan stated, while another wrote: “Sam dalby is so tough man.”
And a sixth fan questioned after watching him score again: “Why did Wrexham not recall Sam Dalby?”

Wrexham loanee Sam Dalby close to personal record
Wrexham have offered Dalby a new contract this season as his current deal expires at the end of June 2025.
He’s yet to accept and, in turn, is due to leave the Racecourse for free, which will likely make him one of the most desirable targets for several clubs.
Dalby has never been the most prolific goalscorer throughout his career but he’s now just one goal away from breaking his own record of most goals scored at one club.
| Team | Appearances | Goals |
| Wrexham | 88 | 13 |
| Dundee United | 28 | 13 |
| Leyton Orient | 19 | 1 |
| Woking | 14 | 1 |
| Stockport County | 4 | 0 |
| Morecambe | 2 | 0 |
| Watford | 1 | 0 |
Given his form and the number of games left this term, it would not be surprising to see the Wrexham loanee hit 20+ goals for the first time in his career with one team.
