Wrexham were last in action against Peterborough United and several big names, including Ryan Barnett, missed out.
The Red Dragons welcomed The Posh to the Racecourse Ground on Saturday afternoon, aiming to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barnsley.
Wrexham started the tie slowly and were once again lacking in attack during the first 45.
However, Steven Fletcher yet again stepped up from the bench to score the winner and rescue Phil Parkinson’s side a 1-0 win.
After Wycombe Wanderers lost to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, the Welsh outfit are now level on points with second place after playing the same number of games.
But Wrexham fans are still no doubt concerned that a few of their best players were unable to feature in the win over Peterborough.

Phil Parkinson provides Elliot Lee, Lewis Brunt and Ryan Barnett injury updates
Lewis Brunt and Elliot Lee missed out vs Barnsley due to injury, with the latter now missing three of the club’s last four League One fixtures.
Brunt and Lee were once again absent over the weekend, with fans no doubt surprised to see Ryan Barnett excluded from the matchday squad against Peterborough as well.
Now, ahead of the meeting with Shrewsbury Town next week, Parkinson has provided updates on all three players, as per Leader Live.
On Lee, he said: “It has been frustrating for Elliot in particular after he missed the whole of the Christmas period.
“Especially having scored such a great goal against Bristol Rovers.
“It was a quality finish but he went down after that, missed the Boxing Day game and came on against Wigan and did well, but he’s making good progress.”
On Brunt, Parkinson added: “Brunty is not serious. He felt it before the Wigan game but played with it. We had it scanned and is showed a minor calf problem.
“It is frustrating for him because he has worked hard to get in the team but we will get that right and I am sure he will be back sooner rather than later.”
Finally, the Wrexham boss said of Barnett’s injury: “Barney has played a lot of football. There’s a bit of fatigue in there and it’s a minor injury.”

Every Wrexham star out injured currently
As well as the trio above, Wrexham are still without a couple more names heading into next week’s clash.
Callum Burton is a long-term absentee and could miss the remainder of the season after picking up a problem against Barnsley in December.
Jack Marriott has been out of action for several months as well after breaking his leg in training.
Parkinson spoke about Marriott recently, however, and seemed to hint he’s nearing a return.
