Wrexham have been given a damning update regarding finances that has been significantly impacted by promotion to the Championship.
Preparations for the upcoming Championship season are already underway for Phil Parkinson.
Wrexham are looking to make significant progress in the summer transfer window, with the hope of bringing in top Championship quality, whilst also moving current players on.
Paul Mullin has been linked with a move away from Wrexham, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more players potentially follow the same route as the Dragons legend.
However, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney look set to be hit with a huge issue regarding moving players on, something that could have a long-term impact on recruitment.

Current Wrexham players set for ‘big pay rise’ following promotion to the Championship
There is plenty of emphasis from Wrexham’s end to move players on and build a Championship-ready squad, but the latest development could make that easier said than done.
Per a report by Alan Nixon on Patreon, Wrexham’s impressive promotion to the Championship has meant that current players have been given a significant pay rise.
Notably, Paul Mullin is one of the players who has been handed an increase in wages, making it more difficult for Wrexham to move him on. This is due to the fact that League One clubs, where Mullin would likely move, will be unable to afford these hefty wages, therefore, Wrexham may need to make a financial decision to pay for some to leave.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney may need to suffer significant financial setbacks to help Phil Parkinson build the squad
Whilst Wrexham did brilliantly well to achieve promotion from League One, there is a realism around the club that there will need to be several arrivals to help the club gear up for the upcoming Championship campaign.
This could be made difficult now because of the increased financial constraints that the club will find itself under, and this could potentially sway whether Parkinson will get all the signings he requires.
If Reynolds and McElhenney were to hand Parkinson what he wants to give Wrexham the best chance possible next season in the Championship, it will require a significant outlay from the owners, including the extra finances that will now be needed to move on the players that are surplus to requirements.
