Why Manchester United will be very interested in one transfer Wrexham want to complete this summer

Wrexham are looking to strengthen their squad as they gear up for the Championship season, and one of their targets has ties to Manchester United.

Phil Parkinson has confirmed Wrexham have spoken to players about transfers already, despite the summer window not yet opening.

The Red Dragons can begin to sign players in June, and a host of names have already been linked.

Moves for three reported Wrexham targets have been ruled out by Humphrey Ker, but there are plenty of other options the club are rumoured to want.

Callum Robinson and Ryan Hardie are both linked after suffering relegations from the Championship with their respective clubs.

Elsewhere, we exclusively revealed last week that Wrexham have an interest in signing Charlie Savage from Reading.

Manchester United will be interested in Charlie Savage to Wrexham transfer

Savage has just had a prolific season in League One with Reading, with the Royals narrowly missing out on a play-off spot.

The 22-year-old joined the Berkshire outfit back in the summer of 2023 for an undisclosed fee from Manchester United.

Charlie, the son of Robbie Savage, began his career on the books of the Red Devils, who could stand to benefit if Wrexham get a deal over the line.

When his United exit was confirmed in 2023, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported at the time that Man Utd have a sell-on clause for the player, as well as the option to match any future bids.

How Charlie Savage compares to Wrexham midfielders

It remains to be seen if Manchester United would be interested in matching Wrexham in a bid for Savage.

If the midfielder does end up in Wales, however, his stats suggest he would add a lot of creativity in the centre of the pitch.

Across all competitions in 2024/25, Savage found the net seven times and assisted 13.
