Paul Mullin’s situation at Wrexham could brew into a saga this summer, with all signs pointing towards the frontman leaving the club.
Wrexham are planning big things in the summer transfer window following on from promotion to the Championship. Unfortunately for Paul Mullin, he doesn’t look like a part of Phil Parkinson’s plans for the 2025/26 season.
Mullin wasn’t even a part of Parkinson’s plans in the second half of the 2024/25 season. Parkinson explained that Mullin was simply out of favour after the January arrivals of Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith.
A combination of injury and not being in favour meant that Mullin ended the season with just three goals in 26 total League One appearances for the Dragons, who went on to finish in 2nd place of the table, earning promotion.
Wrexham are releasing eight players this summer. But speaking recently, Parkinson has said Wrexham will sell players too, likely meaning Mullin is all but gone.

The truth behind Wigan Athletic’s transfer interest in Wrexham striker Paul Mullin
Recent reports have stated that League One side Wigan Athletic want to sign Mullin this summer. It was even claimed that Mullin could leave the Racecourse on a free transfer to simply get him off the books, and to find him a new home in the summer transfer window which opens for business on June 1st.
Now though, Wigan Today have clarified what’s actually going on between Mullin and Wigan. They write: “Speculation linking the 30-year-old with Latics could be more to do his desire to remain in the north west than anything more concrete at this stage.”
Born in the town of Litherland in Merseyside, in the north west of England, it appears as though Mullin is keen to secure a move to a club around that area. But it seems like Wigan Athletic don’t actually have any interest in the striker, which will of course come as a blow to Mullin as he looks for a new club.

Wigan Athletic have their sights set on another Wrexham striker
Instead of Mullin, Wigan appear to be keen on signing Sam Dalby. On Friday, reports emerged stating that Wigan Athletic have an interest in Dalby who is leaving Wrexham as a free agent this summer.
It was claimed that Dundee United were offering Dalby a contract to stay with the club on a permanent basis, following his 15-goal haul on loan with the Scottish club in 2024/25. But the 25-year-old now looks set to return to England.
Subsequent reports have failed to deny Wigan’s interest in signing Dalby. Instead, they’ve suggested that an unnamed League One club is leading the race to sign Dalby: it’s a club in the north west and speculation would suggest that it’s Blackpool, though it could be one of a number of teams.
What happens next for Mullin remains up in the air. But a summer move away from Wrexham looks nailed on either way.
