Wrexham are potentially 90 minutes away from securing their place in the Championship for the first time ever following its rebrand.
Wrexham can win promotion from League One as early as Saturday, April 26, if results on the day go their way.
Wycombe Wanderers lost to Charlton Athletic on Monday, seeing the Red Dragons reclaim second place.
Wycombe now take on a play-off-chasing Leyton Orient in Saturday’s early League One kick-off.
Should they lose, Wrexham know that they will be officially promoted to the second tier if they are able to see off Charlton.
However, Nathan Jones’ side will be no pushover, and could even make a very late charge for automatic promotion themselves with a win.
Ahead of the game, the EFL have confirmed who will be the referee for what is a major meeting, and fans probably won’t be thrilled.

Wrexham vs Charlton referee made error that cost Wycombe
Wrexham have had their fair share of issues with referees this season, with Phil Parkinson sent an apology by one official following a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United.
The Red Dragons are not the only side to drop points because of questionable officiating in recent months, however.
Wycombe lost 1-0 to Birmingham City on March 1, seeing Xavier Simons shown a straight red card in first-half injury time by referee Ben Toner.
Following the sending off, former FIFA referee Keith Hackett suggested that Toner got the call wrong, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
He said: “It’s a reckless challenge but for me it doesn’t fulfil the requirements for serious foul play so the referee’s got it wrong.”
Toner is now set to take charge of Wrexham’s meeting with Charlton on Saturday, with fans no doubt praying no such errors are made in their meeting.

Ben Toner record refereeing Wrexham
Toner has so far taken charge of nine Wrexham matches during his stint as a referee.
During said fixtures, Wrexham have picked up five wins, drawn one and lost three.
Toner has shown seven yellow cards and awarded one penalty kick when officiating the Welsh outfit.
He has never shown a red card to a Wrexham player – a record that will hopefully continue beyond weekend.
