Wrexham player is surely finished as Phil Parkinson says changes are coming

Wrexham wing-back Ryan Longman failed to impress in the game against Stoke City over the weekend.

Ryan Longman has been Wrexham’s starting left wing-back in the last few weeks whilst summer signing Liberato Cacace has been sidelined.

But as Wrexham lost 1-0 against Stoke City over the weekend, Longman had a poor game and was eventually replaced by Cacace, who looks like Phil Parkinson’s favoured choice in that position.

Wrexham paid £3million to sign Cacace from Empoli in the summer and he’s since made three Championship appearances for the Dragons.

Phil Parkinson hints at dropping Ryan Longman at Wrexham

Speaking to Leader Live, Parkinson has revealed that he’s set to make changes to his Wrexham XI in the coming weeks, hinting that Cacace is set to return to the starting lineup, no doubt at the expense of Longman.

Parkinson said: “I think it would be unrealistic to say the same group of players are going to play in the next six games before the next international break. We’ve got to utilise the squad. Ollie Rathbone came back on the bench today, Libby Cacace’s come on and it is great to see him back.

“We need to just analyse the performance, look at it and not get too down about it.”

Phil Parkinson will look to Wrexham star for Cacace inspiration

Parkinson’s style of play suits attacking wing-backs. Longman maybe isn’t as effective going forward as Cacace, at least from what we’ve seen this season, and Cacace has Issa Kabore to look to for inspiration.

Parkinson has hailed Kabore’s Wrexham form with the Man City loan man grabbing three assists in his opening four games for the club.

With Cacace returning and Kabore on the right still doing his thing, Wrexham will look a lot more dangerous and hopefully start to get those all important wins.
