Wrexham fans feel as though one thing has been lacking at the Racecourse Ground so far this season, something that Phil Parkinson predicted at the start of the season.
After three games of the 2025/26 Championship season, Wrexham are yet to notch their first win of the season after a difficult 2-2 home draw against Sheffield Wednesday last time out.
Wrexham threw away a two-goal lead against Sheffield Wednesday, a team that have faced several troubles this summer as they look to revolt against unpopular owner Dejphon Chansiri.
The results this season have been a stark contrast to previous successful years under Phil Parkinson, with the level of the Championship taking many by surprise.
Not only has there been a dip in performances by Wrexham, who are still getting a grasp of the Championship, but fans have noticed a sudden dip in the atmosphere at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham atmosphere labelled as a ‘shambles’ by Red Dragons season ticket holders
The Racecourse Ground has been a fortress in recent years, with Wrexham making their famous home ground a tough place to go for teams.
However, that has not been the case so far this season, following two successive winless home games in the Championship against West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday.
The quality of the Championship has been difficult to compete with at times, but some Wrexham fans believe that the Racecourse Ground is no longer a difficult ground to visit.
Via X, one Wrexham supporter said: “Too much playing up to the SWFC fans in the stands today. The atmosphere was an absolute shambles. Give them their moment before or after the game.”
This was responded to in agreement by another fan, who suggested that it is ‘embarrassing that we’ve become so easy to play at home’.
Wrexham fans then went on to suggest that it ‘should be a hostile environment where you make it difficult for the opposition’, but the Racecourse Ground provided the ‘complete opposite’.
Another fan then simply said: “Atmosphere is better at away games now. The fortress has gone.”

Phil Parkinson knows why the atmosphere at the Racecourse Ground has dipped
Part of the reasons behind the change in atmosphere could be down to the Kop developments.
When asked about the fact that Wrexham will have to remove the temporary stand ahead of the 2025/26 season, Phil Parkinson said: “Unfortunately, nothing can be done about that.
“Other grounds have had to do the same and there is no other way around that.”
Parkinson also discussed the effect it could have on the atmosphere in the Championship, and the Wrexham coach was clearly spot on.
“It was a great idea when we got the temporary stand put up,” he continued.
“I felt it enhanced the atmosphere a lot.
“I am sure it was cost effective in the end with filling out most weeks, unless the weather was particularly bad, and it was great for us.”

Wrexham home record under Phil Parkinson
Since Phil Parkinson took over at Wrexham the Racecourse Ground has been one of the club’s biggest advantages, with it being an incredibly difficult place for away sides to visit.
This is shown by Wrexham’s brilliant record on home soil in North Wales, with Parkinson’s side achieving a 74.1% win percentage in all competitions since he took over at the club.
Parkinson has lost 39 games in his Wrexham career, but only nine have come at home for the Red Dragons boss, which shows how crucial it has been to make the Racecourse Ground a fortress in recent years.
The Wrexham coach needs to remind his side of the expectations of winning at home, and hopefully the fans can play their part by making it a more hostile environment.
