After a difficult start to the Championship season, Wrexham now worryingly find themselves with one huge predicament.
Wrexham have suffered two successive defeats at the beginning of their 2025/26 Championship season.
The Red Dragons lost their season opener against Southampton, and whilst moods were lifted following a midweek EFL Cup win against Hull City, Wrexham were brought back down to earth this weekend.
Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham side were in a goalscoring mood at the Racecourse Ground, but a clinical West Brom side saw them off 3-2 in the end.
Wrexham signing Josh Windass shone once again, but his afternoon was cut short after going off with an injury. The new signing takes Wrexham’s injury tally to a worrying amount, especially when compared to fellow Championship clubs.

Wrexham top injury table in the Championship
After Josh Windass’ injury sustained against West Brom, the Red Dragons now have a total of six players out.
Unfortunately for Phil Parkinson, this is the joint-highest amount of injuries any side in the division has, alongside fellow winless side Derby County.
Other injured players at the Racecourse Ground include Ollie Rathbone, George Thomason, Jay Rodriguez, Liberato Cacace and Andy Cannon.
There is a particularly worrying trend amongst Wrexham’s summer signings, three of whom currently find themselves on the sidelines. Even Kieffer Moore took a knock last weekend against Southampton, and he could have easily been out for some time as well.

Josh Windass’ injury record could be alarming
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson was adamant that he wanted to bring Championship experience into the side this season, and he has done so successfully.
One of the headline signings, Josh Windass, certainly fits this description, and also has a top record as a goalscorer at this level, but it would always be a risk to sign him due to his injury record.
The forward had a number of issues during his spell at Rangers and also at Sheffield Wednesday in the 2022/23 season.
This has already come back to haunt Parkinson, who will be without one key player for the upcoming weeks.
Wrexham’s striker options are extensive, especially after the recent signing of Nathan Broadhead, but Windass will certainly be a significant loss for Parkinson.
After accumulating a scary tally of already-injured players, Parkinson will be praying that the rest of his squad can avoid any knocks, as any further absences could raise alarm bells for Wrexham to go back into the transfer window for extra depth.
