Ryan Reynolds has added another sporting venture to his portfolio after his success with Wrexham.
Wrexham are gearing up for a huge summer transfer window after Phil Parkinson secured promotion to the Championship.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ 2021 takeover has set Wrexham on a remarkable path.
Three straight promotions leave Wrexham just one division below the Premier League – something few would have expected before the Hollywood investment.
The takeover has been an enormous success off the field, with Wrexham boasting incredible commercial revenue.
McElhenney and Reynolds have enjoyed their Wrexham involvement so much that the pair continue to invest in other sporting ventures.

Ryan Reynolds teams up with Hugh Jackman
McElhenney and Reynolds invested in Club Necaxa back in April 2024, taking their football interest to Mexico.
Colombia was next up as McElhenney and Reynolds invested in La Equidad alongside Eva Longoria and Kate Upton.
Add in F1 team Alpine Racing and we have seen McElhenney and Reynolds expand their sporting portfolio.
Reynolds has now agreed another deal but has teamed up with Hugh Jackman this time.
Reynolds’ co-star in the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie, Jackman has been seen at Wrexham games alongside Reynolds in the past.
The pair have now joined forces to invest in three-time SailGP champion Australia, becoming co-owners.
The team has now been rebranded as ‘BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team’, an immediate name change for the team.
Reynolds and Jackman combined to release a statement explaining their investment, with Jackman described as being an ‘avid fan’ of sailing.
“We’re incredibly excited to set sail together in this new adventure. Hugh brings a deep love for and pride in his home country, as well as being an avid fan of sailing. He will also be bringing his overly clingy emotional support human along for the ride. Apologies in advance to Australia. No comment on whether we’re writing this in our BONDS. No further questions,” they said in a statement on the SailGP website.
Hugh Jackman could have rivalled Wrexham
Jackman and Reynolds are now teaming up, but they seemingly could have been rivals after the Wrexham takeover.
Speaking to BBC News in 2023, Jackman claimed rival clubs wanted him to invest in them in order to battle Reynolds.
Jackman claimed that he would have only needed to invest £1, but he just wasn’t sure that it was right for him.
“I will admit to you that when Ryan bought that team, I did get more than one offer from rivals to that team for £1 to come in as a co-owner and that did seriously tempt me,” said Jackman.
“Michael B. Jordan, I was with him] last night, and he’s a co-owner of Bournemouth, and I was like, this whole thing of outsiders coming in and buying football teams, it feels a little, I don’t know…easy,” he added.
Fast forward a few years and Jackman will now hope to enjoy great success alongside Reynolds as they explore the world of sailing.
