Wycombe fans react to ‘massive’ win over Huddersfield as Wrexham’s League One promotion race is ‘not done just yet’

Wrexham’s gap at the top of League One has been cut to three points.

Wycombe secured a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town to take advantage of their game in hand over Wrexham and move to within three points of second place.

Phil Parkinson’s side still have League One promotion in their own hands but know that any slip ups could allow The Chairboys the opportunity to pounce with Wycombe having a superior goal difference.

Eoghan O’Connell has praised Wrexham’s mentality during recent promotion races and the squad will need all their composure once again as Wycombe believe the fight will go to the very end.

Wycombe fans react to win over Huddersfield Town

Wrexham would have known there was still a long way to go even after their 3-0 win over Burton Albion at the Racecourse Ground sent them six points clear.

Wycombe are on the tails of the Red Dragons and their fans certainly believe they will still be the ones to gain automatic promotion following Daniel Udoh’s winner.

One Wycombe fan wrote: “That is massive, another wretched performance but got the job done. Still in it with that.”

Another Wycombe fan wrote: “Massive result! Now lets start the charge on Wrexham. Come on you Blues.”

One Wrexham fan managed a cheeky swipe at The Chairboys after their win, they wrote: “And people say wrexham don’t play attractive football….. Wow…did you just watch that … awful.”

League One standings tight with five games to play

Both sides now have five games remaining, Wycombe have the tougher run in on paper however, football is not won on paper but on the pitch.

Wrexham face a tricky trip to former Premier League outfit Wigan in their next fixture, whilst Wycombe host Stevenage.

Regardless of Wycombe’s results and performances, Parkinson will be drumming into his players that promotion is in their hands – win five games and promotion is secured.

There will be twists and turns over the coming weeks but these two teams will be fighting until the very end in order to get over the line and reach the Championship next season.
