Wrexham are planning for the future with interest in a teenage star now emerging this week.

Since Phil Parkinson took charge, there has been a focus on signing more experienced options.

That could continue in the current transfer window, with plenty of 30+ players linked.

Ben Davies is wanted by Wrexham as he prepares to leave Tottenham Hotspur, while Aaron Cresswell is a target.

Cresswell’s West Ham United teammate Danny Ings has also been linked to the Welsh outfit in recent weeks.

However, the club have now been tipped to sign a 16-year-old sensation this summer.

Wrexham interested in Shay Reid

Reports this week have said that Wrexham are eyeing Shay Reid of Cliftonville.

Reid has more suitors in the Championship, with Preston North End also eyeing the attacker.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen have looked at the 16-year-old, who has spent time on trial with Celtic recently.

Reid is a natural centre-forward who has earned a call-up for Northern Ireland at U16 level.

Youngest Wrexham player to feature in EFL

The Wrexham target is currently 16 years of age and will turn 17 on July 18, 2025.

Should he make a move to Wales and then feature in the Championship next season, he would become one of the youngest players to line out for the club in the EFL.

But who is the youngest player Wrexham have used in the EFL?

As per Transfermarkt, the youngest player to ever line out for the club in any competition is Cian Williams.

Williams was 16 years, four months, and 27 days old when he competed in the Challenge Cup.

In terms of the youngest debutant in the EFL, that accolade goes to Craig Morgan, who featured at 16 years nine months and 21 days old when Wrexham beat Cambridge United 5-0 in the old Second Division back in 2003/04.

Max Cleworth, 17 years 29 days, is the youngest current star to make his debut for Wrexham in any competition.
