Wrexham have made changes in midfield this summer, but George Dobson has made himself almost undroppable this season.
Wrexham’s summer spending came to an end last Monday, as Phil Parkinson made three deadline day additions.
Ben Sheaf was one of those late signings, joining Wrexham in a £6.5million move from Coventry City.
Sheaf could slot right into the Wrexham midfield after becoming Parkinson’s latest addition to the engine room.
George Thomason and Lewis O’Brien also bolstered Wrexham’s engine room over the summer, but George Dobson does not look like a player who will just give up his spot in the team.

George Dobson is taking his game to another level for Wrexham
Dobson was a regular in Wrexham’s promotion-winning campaign last season as he recorded 38 starts and four substitute appearances.
The 27-year-old had already proven himself as a quality League One player with Charlton Athletic, but some had questions over his potential displays in the Championship.
Dobson had never played in the Championship before this season and needed to prove that he could make the step up.
So far, Dobson appears to be taking his game to another level.
Dobson has racked up the joint-second highest amount of tackles this season with 16, level with Preston North End’s Ali McCann and just three behind Callum Styles of West Bromwich Albion.
Dobson has not only been effective off the ball, but he has also contributed massively on the ball as well.
The former Arsenal trainee has been seizing control of games in the middle of the park, and that was on show against PNE in the Carabao Cup.
Wrexham were poor in the first half of that game, but Dobson absolutely ran the show in the second half to lead a comeback victory.
Few had doubts over Dobson’s ability to hassle opponents in midfield, but he is really stepping up to the demands of the Championship by offering so much on the ball as well.
Wrexham may have brought in new midfielders this summer, but Dobson is really staking his claim to remain one of the first names on Parkinson’s team sheet at this early stage of the Championship season.

George Dobson’s transfer U-turn has paid off for Wrexham
It’s easy to forget that Dobson wasn’t even supposed to be a Wrexham player in 2024.
Dobson had agreed to join Hungarian side Fehervar as his Charlton Athletic deal came towards its conclusion.
However, Dobson pulled out of the move and instead decided to reunite with Parkinson at Wrexham.
Parkinson coached Dobson at Sunderland and managed to secure his signature in something of a coup last summer.
A couple of Wrexham’s signings from 2024 have already been loaned out, with Sebastian Revan and Modou Faal heading out for first-team action.
Dobson has proven that he doesn’t need to be replaced any time soon, and he could be a vital player this season if he can keep this level of performance up.
