Wrexham had a successful 2024 summer transfer but failed to sign one player who could have been massive for Phil Parkinson.
After securing promotion from League Two, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds backed the Welsh outfit heavily in the most recent transfer window.
Phil Parkinson was able to bring eight new stars to the Racecourse Ground over the summer, including two record signings.
Wrexham paid £500,000 for Ollie Rathbone from Rotherham United in early August to smash their transfer record.
Then, on deadline day, Wrexham confirmed the signing of West Bromwich Albion striker Modou Faal for a new club-record fee of £590,000.
Faal’s late arrival in Wales finally brought to an end the club’s search for centre-forward reinforcements.
The club had been linked with a plethora of numbers nines over the summer, one of which may now regret his decision not to sign for Wrexham.

Will Lankshear will have Wrexham transfer regret after Tottenham Hotspur snub
It was reported in July that Wrexham had enquired about signing Will Lankshear on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The young striker, who the Lilywhites signed for £2m according to Sky Sports, had previously impressed in Spurs’ youth ranks and the north London outfit looked set to send him out on loan for the 2024/25 season.
However, it then emerged in late August that Tottenham wanted to keep Wrexham target Lankshear as he was part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
The 19-year-old will no doubt have been excited to be involved at senior level for a Premier League club with Champions League aspirations.
However, Lankshear may already be regretting his decision not to join Wrexham after the first month of the 2024/25 season.
The Englishman has played no senior football so far this term and hasn’t even been included in a matchday squad for Tottenham.

Was Modou Faal a better signing than Will Lankshear
With a deal for Lankshear off the table, Wrexham eventually settled for the addition of Faal.
Like the Tottenham man, Faal had limited senior experience prior to moving this summer but did score 14 and assisted three in 33 matches for West Brom’s U21 team.
Since signing for Wrexham though, the 21-year-old has struggled to break into the first-team squad.
Faal made his debut on September 10th, playing 78 minutes of the 2-1 victory over Salford City in the EFL Trophy.
However, the Gambia-born star is yet to make an appearance in the league. He was left on the bench for wins over Peterborough United and Shrewsbury Town and was not even included in the matchday squad when Birmingham City beat Wrexham 3-1 on Monday.
As a result, whether or not Faal was actually a better signing than Lankshear remains up in the air for now.
