Elliot Lee the hero but 50-touch Wrexham ace was sensational vs Crawley Town – his future is bright

Wrexham faced Crawley Town on February 1st and will have been desperate not to drop points when playing away from the Racecourse Ground.

It has been a trying couple of weeks for Wrexham, who lost 3-2 against Stevenage on Tuesday.

That defeat brought an end to a 22-game unbeaten run at the Racecourse and marked the beginning of a very heavy run of games playing on the road.

Phil Parkinson’s side have dropped the majority of their points in 2024/25 outside of Wales but that did not continue on Saturday.

Matty James put the visitors 1-0 up inside two minutes but the Red Dragons could not build on their early lead.

And they were punished in the 90th minute when Bradley Ibrahim scored an equaliser.

However, just as they looked set to drop two crucial points, Elliot Lee stepped up from the bench to make it Crawley 1-2 Wrexham.

Forget Elliot Lee, another Wrexham star was superb vs Crawley Town

Lee now has seven goals in the 2024/25 campaign and is Wrexham’s top scorer.

He may have struggled in an unfavorable striker role but clearly still has a lot to offer Parkinson going forward.

However, while Lee will take the plaudits on Saturday, another player from the clash deserves immense praise.

The man in question is Lewis Brunt, who made his first start for the Welsh outfit following his injury.

Brunt’s importance to Wrexham was already obvious in his absence but his showing against Crawley yet again highlighted what a top player he is.

The centre-back struggled to break into the team when he first arrived over the summer but it’s now clear he will be one of the club’s top defenders for many years to come.

Lewis Brunt stats for Wrexham vs Crawley Town

With Brunt returning, Thomas O’Connor and Dan Scarr dropped out of the team after some questionable displays of late.

The former Plymouth Argyle man is now unlikely to get back into the eleven anytime soon after how well Brunt played this week
