Phil Parkinson has built up a positive culture at Wrexham and kept his squad largely happy during his tenure however, there is one player who should push for a last-minute exit this week.
Wrexham’s strong start to the season is hardly a surprise to anyone given how they’ve strengthened in the transfer window.
Parkinson captured seven new players before the 2024/25 campaign kicked off and multiple have already flourished at the Racecourse Ground.
Arthur Okonkwo was the best player on the pitch at Bolton Wanderers, George Dobson made the most tackles of any player in the EFL this weekend and Sebastian Revan was praised for his display against Sheffield United.
There are, of course, four other players who arrived this summer, including Dan Scarr, Lewis Brunt, Callum Burton and record-signing Ollie Rathbone, but the above trio have flourished the most.
Sadly, similar can’t be said for Will Boyle, who has dropped down even further down the pecking order at Wrexham.

Will Boyle left out of Wrexham squad for the first three league games
Boyle joined Wrexham from Huddersfield Town last summer and the 28-year-old made 24 appearances in League Two in 2023/24.
Towards the end of the previous campaign, though, he was frozen out of the starting XI as Parkinson preferred Tom O’Connor, Max Cleworth and Eoghan O’Connell as a trio.
Now that Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have signed further defensive options, namely Scarr and Brunt, Boyle is arguably sixth in the pecking order.
The ‘fantastic’ defender – as praised by Nail Warnock – was subsequently left out of Wrexham’s squad altogether for their opening three league matches.
And despite scoring in the Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield United, it is clear that Boyle must push for an exit this week, otherwise, he faces a long season of limited football.
Will Boyle must push for Wrexham exit
Boyle is a reliable figure at the back and will always give 100% for the cause; putting his body on the line and dominating attackers.
For that reason, it must be difficult for him to get left out of the squad completely when – in his mind – he’s done nothing wrong.
The Englishman has sadly fallen victim to the talent Parkinson has at his disposal, with five players at the club who are all arguably better than Boyle.
In the final four days of the transfer window, he must use this period to try to engineer a move for himself or, at least be honest with Parkinson about his lack of game time.
Wrexham are well covered at the back and if they suffer one or two injuries, they have Scarr, Brunt and George Evans as cover.
Boyle is also entering the prime of his career and he could spend it on the bench or out of the squad completely if he isn’t careful, meaning the next few days could be massive for his future.
