Wrexham will need their players on top form if they are to beat Mansfield Town on Saturday.

The Red Dragons are set to rekindle their old rivalry with Mansfield Town this coming weekend.

The two sides battled it out at the top of League Two in the 2023/24 campaign with Wrexham coming out on top.

Phil Parkinson’s side secured second place in the fourth tier while Mansfield finished two points behind in third place.

Now, the EFL heavyweights are both once again vying for promotion in the 2024/25 season.

Wrexham are third in League One ahead of the latest round of fixtures but Mansfield are only a point behind them with a game in hand.

As a result, it is a must-win game for the Welsh outfit, who will be hoping for some more magic from record goalscorer and star striker, Paul Mullin.

Paul Mullin record against Mansfield Town

Mullin has been a prolific goalscorer since his move to the Racecourse Ground, netting 103 times in 147 outings.

In the 2023/24 season, the 30-year-old scored a brace to help his team pick up a 2-0 win against their upcoming opponents.

It was not just last season when the striker tournmented Mansfield, however.

Throughout his career, the Wrexham hitman has found the net eight times against the Stags while also providing one assist.

Mullin has only ever scored more goals against one other side, finding the back of the net on nine occasions against Morecambe.

Why Paul Mullin may struggle for Wrexham vs Mansfield Town

Given this meeting could have huge implications on the promotion race come April, Wrexham will be desperate for Mullin to continue his superb record against Mansfield.

However, the Liverpool-born star is really struggling to find his feet upon returning to League One. Max Cleworth dubbed Mullin ‘ridiculous’ earlier this year but he has been well off his game in 2024/25.

Wrexham fans were angry at Mullin vs Harrogate Town this past weekend following his dismal finishing on the day.

In the league, meanwhile, the ex-Cambridge United gem has scored just once in 11 fixtures – a major drop-off from his goalscoring record in previous years.

But with limited options to replace him, we will likely see Mullin in from the off once more on November 9th.
