Throughout the summer, Ollie Palmer’s future at Wrexham has been a talking point among fans, and now it looks as though we might be set for one last hurrah for the 33-year-old striker.
Ollie Palmer is among the Wrexham players out of contract in 2026, and having barely featured in the second half of last season, it looked as though the big striker would be finally moved on at the Racecourse following promotion to the Championship.
But ahead of the summer transfer window closing on September 1st, Palmer remains at Wrexham, and his situation seems less and less clear.
Earlier in the month, Palmer shone as Wrexham beat Hull City in the Carabao Cup, but for the following game against West Brom, Phil Parkinson left Palmer out of the matchday squad entirely.
Soon after, the Wrexham boss commented on the matter, with Parkinson suggesting that Palmer needs to leave Wrexham in order to go and play regular football.

Phil Parkinson drops potential Ollie Palmer hint at Wrexham
On Tuesday night, Wrexham play Preston North End in the Carabao Cup. And speaking to Leader Live, Parkinson has suggested that he will make several changes to his side for the game against Preston, with a potential hint towards Palmer possibly featuring.
Parkinson reiterated the fact that he made changes against Hull and that a lot of the players who came in did well, one of which being Palmer.
Parkinson said: “We will make changes – I’m sure Preston will – but those changes will be based on the team I feel is going to get us a result.
“Leading up to this first international break, it is a bit of a line in the sand period because it is all about getting as many players ready as possible and getting everybody minutes.
“We made changes against Hull, it was a very entertaining game and a lot of the lads did well. It is a chance again for other players, not just to get us through to the next round, but to stake a claim for the weekend.”

Could the Preston game be Ollie Palmer’s last for Wrexham?
Despite there being a number of attacking players at Wrexham now, following a string of signings, it looks as though Palmer could be one who features on Tuesday night at Deepdale.
Kieffer Moore scored twice as Wrexham drew 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday last time out, but the Welshman will no doubt be rested for the game on Tuesday, especially after he picked up a knock on his debut against Southampton.
Meanwhile, Josh Windass and Jay Rodriguez remain injured, whilst Parkinson has said that Nathan Broadhead could be rested for Wrexham in the next game.
Speaking recently, Parkinson gave an injury update on Broadhead, saying: “Nathan Broadhead’s got a bit of a tight calf and we have to be cautious with players because the ones who have come in and been at other clubs have picked up little niggles, some worse than others.”
Given the circumstances, it looks as though Palmer could feature against Preston. But given the wider circumstances, it looks as though it could well be Palmer’s last game in Wrexham colours, with Parkinson no doubt keen to trim his first-team squad ahead of the summer transfer deadline next week.
