Ollie Palmer is among a group of Wrexham players whose actions this season show Phil Parkinson has solved a major issue.

The 2024/25 campaign ended with Wrexham winning League One promotion, taking second place behind Birmingham City.

It was an impressive season from the Red Dragons, who were not expected to be in a promotion battle last year.

However, there were still a few issues over the course of 2024/25, namely the lack of goals from Wrexham’s forwards.

Elliot Lee, an attacking midfielder by trade, finished the campaign as their top scorer in all competitions with nine.

Meanwhile, Steven Fletcher, who was primarily used off the bench, was their highest-scoring striker (8).

Wrexham’s attack has improved in the Championship

To try and solve their striker problems, Wrexham broke their transfer record for Sam Smith in January and also signed Jay Rodriguez from Burnley.

Meanwhile, plenty more attacking options have arrived in North Wales over the summer, most of whom are already impressing.

Josh Windass was superb against Norwich City last weekend, netting a brace in the 3-2 victory.

Elsewhere, Kieffer Moore already has five goals in just seven matches following his transfer from Sheffield United.

Defensive issues have been a concern for the Dragons in the Championship, but they have proven that scoring goals will not be a problem this season.

They have netted at least two in every Carabao Cup fixture and are among the highest scorers in the second tier going into the weekend.

Ollie Palmer among four players to score brace for Wrexham

Their newfound attacking threat has seen a number of players posting impressive attacking numbers in the opening two months of the campaign.

Ollie Palmer, who has since left for Swindon Town, came off the bench to score twice against Hull City.

As mentioned, Windass found the back of the net on two occasions versus Norwich.

Most recently, Nathan Broadhead shone against Reading, scoring both goals on the night.

Finally, Moore earned himself a brace last month in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
