Wrexham fans will be on top of the world after the club’s summer transfer activity.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had already broken the club’s record signing three times in the window before sanctioning a flurry of activity on deadline day.

Wrexham signed Ben Sheaf from Coventry City to bolster midfield options before completing a late double deal for defensive duo Issa Kabore and Dominic Hyam.

Phil Parkinson will be over the moon with his squad heading into the first international break but there is still an opportunity to strengthen further despite the window slamming shut.

Wrexham can still sign Patrick Bamford on a free transfer

Parkinson has been known to sign key players on free transfers after the window has already slammed shut.

Last season Wrexham signed Matty James well into the campaign and Steven Fletcher was also signed on a free transfer back in 2023.

Kieffer Moore is ‘managing’ an ankle injury that he sustained in the opening game of the season away at Southampton and the Red Dragons could be light of a target man should that problem get worse.

Gareth Southgate thinks Patrick Bamford is ‘fabulous’ and Wrexham have been interested in the striker in the past.

Bamford is currently a free agent following his release from Leeds United and Parkinson could yet pounce on the experienced centre forward.

Wrexham may still announce departures after transfer deadline

Wrexham announced a number of departures on deadline day too with Thomas O’Connor and Jacob Mendy both moving to Peterborough.

However, Parkinson still needs to axe four players from his Championship squad that needs to be announced by 7pm on September 2nd.

Wrexham currently have 29 players over the age of 21 that need to be registered in the squad and it could yet be that the club comes to an agreement with some players to terminate their contract.

It would allow the player to sign for another club and be registered elsewhere, also meaning that the Red Dragons save on the wages they would have to pay a player that is ineligible to play for the club in the league.
