Phil Parkinson must not make summer transfer blunder by selling Wrexham star Ryan Reynolds thinks is a ‘hero’

There is likely to be a lot of change at the Racecourse Ground this summer, especially if Wrexham are promoted.

With Birmingham City dominating the division, the second automatic promotion spot will almost certainly be going to Wrexham or Wycombe Wanderers.

Wycombe do have an extra game still to play but some more favorable fixtures could see Phil Parkinson secure a third promotion on the spin.

Should that happen, Wrexham will have a lot of money to spend ahead of their first-ever season in the Championship.

A reduced loss in the 2023/24 campaign, as confirmed by the Red Dragons’ latest accounts, means there is plenty of room for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to splash the cash later this year.

In turn, it’s likely, much like in 2024, there will be a lot of players deperating Wrexham once 2024/25 comes to a close.

Phil Parkinson can’t sell Wrexham star this summer

On this front, Parkinson should avoid selling one player in particular, even if he’s fallen out of favour.

In terms of players who will likely leave, Josh Adam, Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard are all out of contract in June.

The likes of Will Boyle and Luke Bolton have not really played at all this season, so their exits do make sense.

However, it’s imperative that Wrexham do not look to move on Paul Mullin once the summer window opens up.

Mullin has not featured in the league since a shock 3-2 home defeat to Stevenage at the end of January.

Despite falling heavily out of favour, however, the 30-year-old does not deserve to be shipped out.

He’s scored over 100 goals for the club since his arrival in 2021 and it isn’t a stretch to say Wrexham would not be where they are today without the striker.

Mullin remains under contract until 2027 and simply due to his previous service alone, should be allowed to see out that deal.

What Ryan Reynolds said about Paul Mullin

Fans love Mullin, as do the Red Dragons’ Hollywood owners, who have praised him on multiple occasions.

Reynolds hailed Mullin back in 2023, dubbing the goal-machine a ‘hero’ at the time.

Ryan and Rob, on paper, have the final say on transfers as it’s their money, but Parkinson is usually the one who decides which players he wants to sign.

On the Mullin front, he must tred very carefully as the Liverpool-born ace is a club legend and poor handling of an exit may cause some backlash from supporters.
