Wrexham supporters have been treated to some deadline-day excitement following the arrivals of Jack Marriott and Luke Bolton.

Marriott arrives from League One side Fleetwood Town in what is a real coup for the club while former Manchester City academy graduate Luke Bolton joins from League Two rivals Salford City.

Phil Parkinson has now overseen three signings at the helm during this window after the permanent deal of Lee McNicholas was confirmed earlier on in the month.

With Wrexham expected to add at least one more before the deadline, perhaps an ambitious move for Rotherham United midfielder Jamie Lindsay, the starting XI that lines up against Salford on Saturday could be completely overhauled.

Wrexham’s 5-3-2 system has brought them huge success under Parkinson and that’s unlikely to change, despite their two newest arrivals entering the fray.

Phil Parkinson’s dream Wrexham XI

Arthur Okonkwo has been top-class for the Red Dragons this term and will retain his place in goal after keeping eight clean sheets in 17 appearances.

As for the back five, Parkinson’s strongest defensive trio comprising Ben Tozer with Eoghan O’Connell and Max Cleworth flanking should make up their back three. Tozer, in particular, has been immense for Wrexham this term, averaging 6.1 balls recovered and 4.6 clearances per game, via Sofascore.

Bolton played predominantly as a right winger for Salford, but his new side will likely utilise him as a right wing-back with his pace adding a new dimension to their attacking play.

James McClean has been ever-present on the other side, grabbing four assists in 20 appearances from left wing-back.

Unless Jamie Lindsay arrives from Rotherham, the best midfield Parkinson can name is George Evans at the base with Andy Cannon and Elliot Lee flanking either side.

Evans has averaged 1.3 tackles and recovered 4.6 balls per game, demonstrating his ability as a defensive screen while Lee has been an integral source of goals from deep.

The former Luton Town man is Wrexham’s top scorer in all competitions this term with an impressive 13 goals in 33 appearances.

Not far behind is goal machine Paul Mullin with 11 and his dream strike partner is Jack Marriott.

Marriott has scored 110 goals across his career and was sensational at Derby County in the Championship.

Wrexham have shown a real statement of their intent by signing him from a side in the division above and he has to start ahead of Stephen Fletcher, Sam Dalby and Ollie Palmer.

Wrexham’s dream XI (5-3-2): Okonkwo, Bolton, O’Connell, Tozer, Cleworth, McLean; Evans, Cannon, Lee; Mullin, Marriott.
