Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney should have 19-goal starlet on their radar, he has a clear reason to join Wrexham

Wrexham should be all over the signing of one striker who could be looking for pastures new this summer.

Wrexham are looking to bolster their options ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.

One area of importance that Phil Parkinson is looking to develop is the frontline, which could be given an overhaul by the time the upcoming campaign kicks off.

Steven Fletcher has already left Wrexham, albeit in controversial terms, whilst Paul Mullin’s future at the club is a doubt. Coming in the other way, Wrexham have targeted experienced players at this level, with the club keen on Danny Ings.

Looking at the catalogue of players linked with Wrexham so far, it is clear that experience is of utmost importance, but the recruitment should go against the grain with one potential transfer of someone who will likely want to move from his parent club this summer.

Wrexham should target Stoke City youngster Nathan Lowe this summer

With Wrexham clearly wanting to add some goalscoring ability to their ranks this summer, one player they should be all over is Stoke City’s Nathan Lowe.

Whilst his experience in senior football is rather limited, he had a barnstorming 2024/25 season, where, in the first half of the League Two campaign whilst on loan at Walsall, the 19-year-old bagged an incredible 15 goals in just 22 games for the promotion-chasing side.

In January, Stoke City lost Tom Cannon, who was recalled by Leicester City, which meant that the Potters took drastic action to recall Lowe from his loan spell with Walsall, a decision that led to the League Two side capitulating for the rest of the campaign, going on to miss out on promotion.

Unlike Wrexham’s other targets, Lowe is a young striker with bags of potential, a ferocious strike and exceptional character – his ambitions could easily lead him to Phil Parkinson’s door as well.

Why Nathan Lowe may want to leave Stoke City for Wrexham

When Lowe was recalled to Championship side Stoke City, it was expected that he would be a straight swap for Cannon, who was the Potters’ main goal threat before he was recalled. However, his game time was limited, having notched only five starts since his return.

As an ambitious young star, Lowe would most certainly not wish to remain at a club that not only derailed his breakthrough season in senior football but also significantly hampered his game time, thus preventing him from reaching his maximum potential.

This is something that Wrexham and Parkinson could easily offer the youngster this season – his Championship experience is relatively low, but it would be a worthy gamble that could pay dividends for both Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
