Wrexham had high hopes of landing Tottenham striker Will Lankshear on loan but if they can’t sign the teenager, there are other options they should look at.

When it was announced that Paul Mullin was injured and would miss the start of the new season, many expected Wrexham to act fast in the transfer window.

Including Mullin, the Reds currently have seven strikers at the club but there are few, if any, who can score a bucket load of goals at this level or fill his void.

That is why Phil Parkinson has turned to the transfer market in an attempt to add further quality to his attack.

Wrexham want Tottenham striker Will Lankshear

Wrexham have been linked with Tottenham’s Will Lankshear on loan, with the 19-year-old also attracting interest from Championship sides Hull City and Sunderland.

Parkinson’s hopes of signing the teenager were dashed when Spurs named him in their squad for on the pre-season tour of Asia while it has since emerged that the North London club are set to review offers for Lankshear as they prepare to loan him out.

Of course, Wrexham would love to sign the England under-19 international – who scored 23 goals in Premier League 2 last term – but they must also lineup an alternative to him, just in case he doesn’t join.

Here are three other youngsters Parkinson could sign on loan from the Premier League.

Ethan Wheatley (Man Utd)

Manchester United youngster Ethan Wheatley could be made available for a loan transfer this summer.

The 2006-born striker impressed in United’s underage groups last term, plundering eight goals in seven under-18 Premier League appearances before stepping up to the under-21’s and scoring a further four.

Wheatley was also handed his Premier League debut in the win over Sheffield United in April, becoming the 250th academy graduate to play for the Red Devils.

With Man Utd recently snapping up 16-year-old Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal, who is reportedly going to be a third-choice option next season, United could loan out the 18-year-old and Wrexham should pounce.

Ronnie Stutter (Chelsea)

Ronnie Stutter is another England under-19 striker who has taken the Premier League 2 by storm.

In 14 appearances last term, the clinical Stutter scored 11 goals and kept elite company at the top of the scoring charts.

Although he’s yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues, the next step in his development is to be loaned out and experience the physicality of first-team football.

At Wrexham, where he would learn from the likes of manager Parkinson and goal machine Mullin, Stutter would be in safe hands and could translate his clinical edge across to League One.

Jude Soonsup-Bell (Tottenham)

Lankshear isn’t the only youngster Tottenham are currently blessed with as former Chelsea academy star Jude Soonsup-Bell is another talented gem on their books.

Soonsup-Bell joined the Spurs development squad in January 2023, completing a transfer from the blue corner of London.

The 20-year-old plundered 12 goals in 26 appearances for the under-21 side last term while former youth coach Ed Brand previously dubbed him “fantastic”.

Last season, the 2004-born finisher also showed his technical proficiency, producing six assists in Premier League 2 and showcasing he can bring more than just his goals to the party.

Whilst he’s never made an appearance under Ange Postecoglu, the promise of regular first-team football at Wrexham could be appealing and he should certainly be on Parkinson’s radar this summer.
