Wrexham have endured some torrid times in recent years against their next opponents Stockport County.

The Red Dragons have won just once in their last eight clashes against Stockport but Phil Parkinson will know that record needs to change at the Racecourse Ground as they battle for League One promotion.

Victory would move Wrexham into the automatic promotion place and Parkinson should know his game plan for Stockport after the midfield battle was lost in their previous fixture at Edgeley Park.

Paul Mullin could return to the matchday squad as his knack of producing in big games could be key in what will no doubt be a tight and tense affair. That however, was not the case back in September 2023.

What Phil Parkinson said after his heaviest defeat as Wrexham manager against Stockport

In September 2023, a hat trick from striker Isaac Olaofe helped Stockport romp to a 5-0 victory over Parkinson’s Wrexham side with three goals coming in a dismal first half display.

Goalkeeper Mark Howard was left totally exposed by some dreadful defending from the Red Dragons, and speaking on season 3, episode 3 of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary, Parkinson could not hide his anger.

Parkinson stated: “I can accept getting beat I really can but it was the first time there was a feeling we didn’t fight.”

It is still Parkinson’s heaviest defeat as Wrexham manager as per Wrexham archive and he will be desperate to not see a repeat display in their crucial upcoming League One clash.

Parkinson’s phenomenal Wrexham record

There hasn’t been many darker days for Parkinson than that 5-0 defeat and overall his record since joining the Red Dragons has been nothing short of sensational.

Parkinson recently celebrated 1000 games as a manager and took over Wrexham when they were languishing in the depths of the National League before back to back promotions.

With nine games to go in the promotion race, Parkinson will be hoping for nine more wins in order to secure a record third successive promotion.

Wycombe have a tougher run in on paper however, an experienced manager such as Parkinson will know that nothing is won on paper and there are no easy games during an end of season run in.
