Winners and losers as Wrexham target Dele Alli, Ryan Reynolds and Elliot Lee feature

As reports emerge of Wrexham showing interest in Dele Alli, there will be a number of effects on those associated with the club, both for good and bad reasons.

Wrexham’s summer transfer window has ended with 14 players joining the Red Dragons, while a host of familiar faces have departed the Racecourse Ground.

However, with the summer window now over, Wrexham can still delve into the free agent market.

Wrexham target Christian Eriksen is still available, and while he did initially snub the Red Dragons, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac will no doubt have a close eye on his whereabouts.

In addition, Wrexham are also interested in Dele Alli, with the Red Dragons set to battle fellow Championship sides Birmingham City and West Brom for his signature.

If Wrexham were to sign Dele, it would have significant knock-on effects across the club, with many set to benefit from a potential deal.

The winners as Wrexham target Dele Alli

Phil Parkinson

Wrexham have been shrewd in the summer transfer window so far, and this deal could top the list if they were to sign Dele Alli on a free transfer.

While Dele has struggled to hit his previous heights in recent years, having endured difficult spells at Everton, Besiktas, and Como, he still has the talent to set the Championship alight.

Phil Parkinson is always keen to bring in as many recruits as possible, and he would jump at the chance of having a former England and Tottenham Hotspur star with plenty of experience in his side, especially one who can offer a special output when on form.

Ryan Reynolds

Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds, alongside Rob Mac, are the masters of exposure, as their role entails bringing as many eyes onto the club as possible.

While Wrexham have managed to sign several high-profile players so far this summer, Dele Alli would blow all of those out of the water.

Dele is a worldwide name in football, and as a result, would have significant benefits in addition to what he can provide on the pitch.

Wrexham always benefit greatly by adding huge personalities to the squad, and the potential arrival of Dele would help that.

Elliot Lee

Wrexham hero Elliot Lee is already far down the pecking order at the club following Phil Parkinson’s decision to sign Josh Windass this summer, and if Dele Alli soon joined as well, things could get worse for the Red Dragons star.

Lee has stayed at Wrexham while fellow teammates Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin have notably departed, which could be a sign that Lee is yet to be frozen out of the squad, but signing Dele could soon change that.

The Wrexham attacking midfielder has shown in previous years to be a crucial member of Parkinson’s side, but his likelihood of having such a prominent role appears to be less likely by the day.

Phil Parkinson

Yes, Phil Parkinson would no doubt benefit from signing Dele Alli after his Como departure, as outlined above, but it could also come at a cost for the Wrexham boss.

Spells elsewhere have seen Dele struggle to return to his best, with there being a trend of the former Tottenham Hotspur man being frozen out of teams before leaving clubs prematurely.

There is no reason to significantly doubt Dele’s attitude before a potential move to Wrexham, but Parkinson would certainly be questioning why spells elsewhere have not gone as planned, and if he was even able to learn from any potential mistakes made by either the player or his former coaches.
