Wrexham are looking to snap up Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith in the 2025 January transfer window.
Fans of the Red Dragons should already be very familiar with the name Michael Smith following previous interest.
Smith was linked to Wrexham in the summer as Phil Parkinson looked to improve his striking ranks.
Like so many other targets in 2024, however, a move for the Sheffield Wednesday man did not come to pass.
He’s remained in Yorkshire for the first half of 2024/25, scoring five and assisting four in 25 Championship appearances.
Now though, Wrexham are targeting Smith once more this month in January with the club yet again in need of a centre-forward.

Michael Smith has already excelled with Wrexham player
Before linking up with Sheffield Wednesday in 2022, the 33-year-old spent three years on the books of Rotherham United.
During that time, Smith lined out alongside two current Wrexham players – Ollie Rathbone and Anthony Forde.
Rathbone and the striker played a total of 50 matches together, combining for two goals.
However, Smith’s connection with out-of-favour Wrexham ace Forde is much better.
The pair played 49 matches for Rotherham and were able to combine for four goals in that time
Only nine players have had more joint goal participation with Smith in his long playing career.
It would be great to see the pair combing once more at Wrexham but that is very unlikely given Parkinson didn’t even select Forde for his League One squad at the start of the season.
He was on the bench against Peterborough United as unregistered players can feature in January, but it seems unlikely Forde will make the 22-man team when the new deadline arrives at the close of the transfer window.

What Wrexham fans need to know about Michael Smith
Smith has been in and out of the Sheffield Wednesday team since Danny Rohl arrived at the club.
However, he’s really begun to shine under the German this season and we have already spoken to one expert to get an insight into the target.
Everything Wrexham fans need to know about Smith has been discussed, including his biggest strengths, weaknesses, and crucially, how he may struggle in a two-man partnership.
But should the Englishman be deployed alongside a pacy striker such as Paul Mullin, that issue could be solved.
