Things finally look to be heating up at Wrexham as we enter the third week of the January transfer window.

The Red Dragons had an active summer window with nine players arriving at the Racecourse Ground on permanent deals.

Three more stars were then signed by Wrexham as free agents in October and November but at present, Phil Parkinson’s side are yet to make an addition in January.

It’s very clear who the club want to sign in the winter, however, with a number nine clearly on the agenda.

Dion Charles has been linked to Wrexham this week, but the Bolton Wanderers striker with seven League One goals in 2024/25 is also garnering interest from Championship outfit Derby County.

A move for Joe Gelhardt now looks to be off the cards, as does one for his Leeds United teammate, Patrick Bamford.

But another centre-forward is now being looked at by those in a position of power at the Racecourse.

Wrexham eye transfer for Liverpool gem Jayden Danns

It’s not just players in the second and third tiers the club are looking at this month, however.

We previously revealed Wrexham hold an interest in Ethan Wheatley of Manchester United, who has been bagging goals at U21 level.

Now, another gem from a top-six club is being linked with the Red Dragons in the form of Jayden Danns.

According to a report from the Mirror, Danns is an audacious target for Wrexham, with a loan move the most likely option.

However, signing the young striker may be easier said than done, with ‘many’ Championship teams also looking at him.

What Arne Slot has said about Jayden Danns’ Liverpool future

Danns scored in Liverpool’s recent FA Cup triumph over the weekend against Accrington Stanley.

Following that match, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra, former Leicester City player Marc Albrighton dubbed the Wrexham target ‘brilliant’.

He said: “Jayden Danns loves a goal and getting in those positions. That was brilliant from start to finish.

“He expected the rebound and he finished it well first time. You can see how much it means to him – a great moment for the young lad.”

The 18-year-old now has three goals in seven senior appearances for Liverpool and after his latest outing, Arne Slot commented on Danns’ future, as per the Liverpool Echo.

He said: “The last thing (going out on loan in January), I don’t know at the moment,” he said. “For us, it [today[ was all about the players who hadn’t played that much yet, to give them playing time. And we gave some playing time to a few youngsters.

“What I like most about him [Danns[ and most of the academy players is the mentality they have.

“What his potential is, that probably needs some time to find out if he, in the end, will be a starter for us but he will have a very good career because of his mentality, I’m very sure of.”
