Wrexham travel to Northampton Town in search of three points that will close the gap on the second automatic promotion place.

New signings Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez are expected to continue their partnership up front in the Wrexham predicted XI, whilst there could also be a start for midfielder Andy Cannon.

Wrexham haven’t been at their best away from the Racecourse Ground this season but will be buoyed by their last League One result at Crawley Town with Elliot Lee grabbing a last gasp winner.

Captain James McClean produced his best performance against Northampton in the return fixture and manager Phil Parkinson has also enjoyed some success against The Cobblers throughout his long career.

Phil Parkinson is unbeaten in his career against Northampton Town

Parkinson has guided Wrexham to back-to-back promotions and currently has the Red Dragons sitting in third place in the League One table.

Ryan Reynolds wants another promotion this season and if that is to happen, the Wrexham boss will want to lean on his incredible record against Northampton Town by acquiring three more points.

Parkinson has managed against The Cobblers thirteen times in his career and is yet to lose, winning an impressive 12 matches and drawing once.

He will be hoping that thirteen won’t be an unlucky number for his side in their upcoming clash, as a thirteenth win would crank the pressure up on Wycombe before their trip to Crawley.

Wrexham have impressive record against Northampton Town

Wrexham as a club also boast an impressive record against their hosts having lost just once in their last seven visits to The Sixfields Stadium.

Northampton have been given a fitness boost after right back Aaron McGowan was passed fit to start the game and Kevin Nolan’s side will be looking to continue momentum after winning their last two.

It was a resounding 4-1 victory for the Red Dragons at the Racecourse earlier on in the season but Parkinson will know that his side cannot underestimate the challenge ahead of them.
