Wrexham must demand referee is vigilant in one area following the history of Leicester City stars

Wrexham are set to face Leicester City in the Championship at the King Power Stadium as they look to build off a fine unbeaten week of fixtures.

The Red Dragons secured a draw against Derby County at the weekend, with the Wrexham players performing impeccably.

Phil Parkinson will now look at their next test as arguably their toughest so far in the campaign, as it is a trip to a side that was playing in the top flight last season and one that lifted the Premier League title less than 10 years ago.

It will be the first time in 43 years that Leicester and Wrexham have faced each other, with the Welsh side desperate to get their first ever league win against the Foxes.

Ahead of the clash, the boss of the hosts for the clash has identified one area he is not happy with regarding his team, but an area the visitors will hope the referee is vigilant on.

Leicester City boss tired of the simulation from his players

Marti Cifuentes will be preparing his team for the clash with Wrexham on Tuesday night and will be looking to exploit an area, should he identify one, of the Welsh side.

However, he has had to worry about his team due to their needless bookings for simulation, as Leicester City received a yellow card each for this with Julian Carranza and Jeremy Monga against West Brom.

The Spaniard is not a fan of simulation, and he made that very clear while speaking to Leicestershire Live, stating that he wants it to stop even though from day one at the Foxes he did not want to see it.

He said: “I’ve been very clear since day one with all my teams that I don’t like diving at all.

“I haven’t seen the situation yet (with Monga), but when you are chasing a result and driving forward, the honest way to go is to just try to attack the game and not to lose time on those situations.”

Wrexham will need to be wary of the simulation from Leicester City

A game can be won by a contentious decision, and Phil Parkinson will have had his fair share of being on either side of one of those throughout his managerial career.

In the Championship there is no VAR, so the teams are relying on the referee to be able to use his judgement and vigilance to ensure that simulation does not go unpunished.

The Red Dragons will hope that the game is not decided by a player attempting to deceive the referee and that it is won on merit by either side; however, Wrexham will hope they end up as victors from the clash.
