Wrexham are looking to add to a number of areas in the squad.

Phil Parkinson sees central midfield as a priority position to strengthen and Wrexham are interested in Lewis Travis after their offer to Tom Cairney seems unlikely to come to any fruition.

Aaron Cresswell is a player the club have offered a contract to following his release from West Ham, however, Cresswell wants to stay in the Premier League.

Wrexham have also offered a deal to Craig Dawson and should the Wolves veteran accept the move to the Racecourse Ground, it could spell bad news for a player that Ryan Reynolds is a huge fan of.

Craig Dawson arrival at Wrexham is bad news for Eoghan O’Connell

Reynolds is a huge fan of Eoghan O’Connell and the Irish defender had an outstanding end to the League One campaign, guiding his side to promotion.

O’Connell was at the heart of Parkinson’s back three and used every ounce of his experience to grind out the results needed during the run-in.

However, should Dawson accept the contract offer, his Premier League quality may mean that O’Connell moves down the pecking order at Wrexham.

Dan Scarr replaced O’Connell during the final three games of last season due to injury but the arrival of Dawson would surely mean that he becomes first choice at the heart of the back three.

The feeling is that Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt will consistently be the right and left side, with Parkinson wanting an experienced figure in the middle.

Doubts over Eoghan O’Connell’s ability to play in the Championship

Humphrey Ker had high praise for O’Connell after claiming he was the Red Dragons player of the season but with promotion to the Championship, the 29-year-old’s future is unclear.

Parkinson would be wise to keep O’Connell in the squad as his influence on the dressing room is exceptional and he rarely lets the side down.

The only nagging doubt in the back of the manager’s mind would be the fact that O’Connell has no experience in the second tier and could find the step up in quality difficult.

However, that is the case for much of the Wrexham squad and they have shown in the past that they are more than capable of raising their game when needed.
