The Paul Mullin era at Wrexham is slowly but surely coming to an end, and the player already has a plan in place for once he departs.
It’s been just over four years since Wrexham completed what will no doubt go down as one of the greatest transfers in their history.
Paul Mullin, who finished the previous season as the top goalscorer in League Two and won promotion to the third tier, arrived at the then National League club from Cambridge United for free.
What followed was nearly four very prolific years and three promotions in a row.
However, 2025 has shown, like so many other previously crucial stars, that Mullin’s time at the Racecourse Ground is coming to an end.

Paul Mullin’s time at Wrexham coming to an end
His fall down the pecking order began in January 2025 when Phil Parkinson dropped the 30-year-old from Wrexham’s matchday squads completely.
Mullin suggested Parkinson didn’t trust him as much in the latest season of Welcome to Wrexham, and that was seemingly true.
Several new forwards arrived in the summer, while one of the club’s all-time top goalscorers was shipped out on loan to Wigan Athletic for the 2025/26 season.
When the current campaign is up, Mullin will return to North Wales with a year left on his contract. But barring Parkinson leaving and the centre-forward putting on some truly exceptional displays in the next year, his future appears to be away from North Wales.
Whether that happens in 2026 or when he becomes a free agent in 2027 is not yet clear, but what is clear is that the striker’s time at Wrexham is coming to an end.

Paul Mullin’s plan after leaving Wrexham
Meanwhile, Mullin has spoken about leaving Wrexham already and outlined what he is going to do.
Speaking back in 2023, the former number 10 admitted his love for the Dragons and how he will come back to watch them every week when he leaves.
He said: “If I didn’t play for Wrexham anymore at any point, I would go to watch them every week. It has become my team.
“I am all-in at Wrexham and I have been since I signed, it has been phenomenal. I love this club and my family do, it has become our team.”
