Wrexham have caught the attention of the footballing world with their financial intent during the summer transfer window.
Wrexham outspent the likes of Barcelona and many more European giants after an outlay of nearly £40m by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on thirteen new signings.
Nathan Broadhead became the club’s new record signing, arriving from Ipswich Town in a deal that could rise to up to £10m alone.
It is a far cry from scraping around in the National League, where they had to convince players that Wrexham was the right project for them – including club legend Paul Mullin.

Shaun Harvey claimed that Paul Mullin should have been signed by Championship clubs in 2021
Speaking on season one, episode three of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series, Wrexham director Shaun Harvey claimed that signing Mullin should have been ‘unachievable’ for the club.
Mullin had just fired 34 goals for Cambridge United to help secure promotion to League One and Harvey believed he should have been targeted by Championship clubs.
Harvey stated: “There needs to be a little bit of expectation management, the top goal scorer in League Two should be going to the Championship or the top end of League One.
“Just be careful in how you set this up because Paul Mullin should be unachievable for Wrexham Football Club.
“He’s certainly going to be very very difficult, he will take some persuading even if we threw everything at him. If we do throw everything at him, the budgets we have set will go completely out the window.”
Wrexham secured Mullin on a free transfer during the summer of 2021 and the striker went on to fire over 100 goals for the club on their way to securing three successive promotions.
Mullin joined Wigan on loan this summer as part of a number of notable departures as Parkinson begins the next evolution of his Wrexham squad.
Paul Mullin beginning to win over Wigan fans during loan spell
Things did not get off the best of starts for Mullin at Wigan Athletic with supporters claiming that the striker looked rusty and out of sorts.
However, the 30-year-old has now scored three goals across all competitions and Mullin earned rave reviews for his display against Lincoln City.
Mullin was on the scoresheet against Lincoln and added to his recent winning goal for the Latics in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Wrexham fans will be keeping a close eye on the forward’s performances at Wigan, not because a return is likely in January, but because he is adored by the fanbase for what he achieved at the Racecourse Ground.
