Wrexham are continuing to strengthen their squad ahead of the start of the Championship campaign as they close in on making an eighth summer signing.

Wrexham confirmed the signing of Conor Coady to add some much needed experience to their defensive options in a £2m deal from Leicester City.

Phil Parkinson watched his side suffer two defeats to Groningen over the course of the same day but would have been impressed by new signings Lewis O’Brien and Josh Windass.

Jay Rodriguez has been ruled out of the club’s season opener but there is a potential replacement on the way with a proven track record in the Championship.

Kieffer Moore undergoing Wrexham medical ahead of transfer from Sheffield United

According to journalist Anthony Joseph, Wales international Kieffer Moore is undergoing a medical at Wrexham ahead of a £2m transfer from Sheffield United.

Parkinson has already added firepower to his front line with the captures of Ryan Hardie and Windass, but now appears intent on including Moore in his squad for next season.

Moore was labelled as ‘outstanding’ by his former manager Chris Wilder last season as per the Star and arrives at the Racecourse Ground with bags of experience in the second tier.

His physicality and aerial ability will add another dimension to Wrexham’s attack, providing a real focal point for the likes of Windass and O’Brien to play off.

Moore has already scored at the Racecourse Ground whilst playing for Wales and at just £2m, represents another piece of excellent business from the club.

Kieffer Moore arrives with Wrexham’s pre-season completed

Wrexham’s pre-season campaign concluded with defeat in the Netherlands and Parkinson will now hope that Moore can get up to speed during training sessions in the build up to the opening game at St Mary’s Stadium.

It would be highly unlikely for Moore to start the game having not played a minute in a Wrexham shirt as of yet, but he is the sort of player that can make a huge impact from the bench.

The Red Dragons can name nine substitutes in the Championship this season and Parkinson will know that each game could be won by any of the 20 players involved.

Should a late cameo be needed, the Wales international striker will be more than ready to announce himself to his new supporters and what better way to do that than by scoring on your debut.
